What you'll be doing

The Enterprise Data & Records Management Office (EDRMO) within the Chief Data Office (CDO) serves as the enterprise hub for data and records governance at CIBC. As a Consultant, Data Governance Adherence, you'll be a key member of the Enterprise Data Governance Adherence Risk Assessor team, working closely with partners across Strategic Business Units (SBUs), Functional Groups (FGs), project teams, and Data Governance teams. You'll provide guidance and subject matter expertise on data and records risk across projects and internal risk processes. In this role, you'll lead and support individual data and records risk assessments, helping ensure activities align with due diligence requirements, policies, standards, guidelines, and service level agreements. You'll also contribute to a strong, sustainable enterprise data governance practice by identifying risks, strengthening controls, and promoting consistent governance across the organization.

How you'll succeed

  • Risk assessment execution - Conduct data and records risk assessments to identify potential risks, gaps, and vulnerabilities across initiatives and business processes. Support effective risk management through processes such as Change Initiative Risk Assessment (CIRA), Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA), Technology Triage, and Third Party Risk Assessment (TPRA).
  • Governance expertise - Build and apply strong knowledge of EDRMO data governance policies, standards, procedures, processes, and key controls. Contribute to the continuous improvement of governance practices to support a sustainable enterprise data governance framework.
  • Stakeholder collaboration - Partner with colleagues across EDRMO and the broader enterprise to provide risk guidance, share insights, and support informed decision-making. Communicate risk-related issues clearly to help build a strong culture of accountability and awareness.
  • Analysis and reporting - Review qualitative and quantitative information to assess risk exposure, develop risk profiles, and support recommendations that strengthen governance and control environments.
  • Prioritization and delivery - Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while maintaining attention to detail and meeting established service expectations.
  • Regulatory and industry awareness - Stay current on relevant regulatory expectations and industry best practices to help strengthen risk management approaches and support ongoing compliance.

Who you are

  • You bring 4+ years of experience in risk management, data governance, records management, or a related field. Experience supporting assessment-based processes in a large, complex organization is an asset.
  • You have a degree or diploma in Computer Science, Business, or a related discipline. Relevant certifications in risk, governance, or data management are considered an asset.
