What you'll be doing
Reporting to the Director, Marketing Data Strategy and Governance, the Consultant, Data Engineer will be responsible for developing data pipelines on cloud-native platform, combining data from multiple sources across multiple domains. The Data Products support the larger Marketing modernization programs, which include use-cases across machine learning, analytics, and reporting. The marketing data team's focus is on value-added data products that support enterprise initiatives, partnering with technology teams for platform and infrastructure requirements. You will work closely with Data Product owners and Lead Data Engineers to understand the business requirements, design and execute the build of data products in the most scalable and efficient manner, with modular and re-usable design to enable a foundational and strategic build. You bring end-to-end experience in delivering Enterprise quality data product, with deep understanding of the cloud-based data engineering architectural principles.
At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.
How you'll succeed
- You demonstrate strong technical background – 3-5 years’ experience delivering data solutions with cloud-native platforms such as Databricks. You are proficient in developing functional / declarative pipelines using PySpark, Scala, and SparkSQL. You understand the principles of parallel processing, such as Spark, MapReduce with Spark-native methodologies. Knowledge of Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL, Microsoft Fabric, Oracle, Netezza, SAS, Toad would be an asset
- You bring industry standard best practices – Be a subject matter expert in cloud data engineering best practices, standards and techniques, including CI/CD Principles, GitHub and agile/scrum working models.
- You have a strong business acumen – You understand the business objectives, and desired outcomes and can connect the dots between multiple programs & dependencies to make an informed decision for tasks related to your work and desired outcome. You are able to simplify and translate a complex problem into ways that are easily understood by others.
- Troubleshooting and Analytical Thinking – You ask the right questions to get the answers you are looking for. Ability to identify and ensure right stakeholders are engaged in conversations to resolve outstanding items.
- Accountability and Time Management – Play a proactive role in seeking for resolutions to issues and roadblocks along the program lifecycle. Demonstrate strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and deliver multiple concurrent programs
