What you'll be doing
You will be joining CIBC's Business Banking Technology (BBT) team, delivering complex, enterprise-scale projects involving Mainframe applications. As the Consultant, Application Development, you will provide and own the technical solution to support requirements for the Mainframe applications in BBT. You will collaborate with various Technology and Business partners to ensure the solution meets Business needs and aligns with technology standards, while working on technical integrations with the teams. The role provides application expertise and advice for senior consultants and senior management on a wide spectrum of areas; in addition, work with the team on the planning and strategy work for the Mainframe applications. You will be responsible for design, development and testing; guiding junior developers on best practices, solution approaches, and design concepts. You will be involved in every stage of the development life cycle: intake assessment, analysis, estimation, proof of concept, requirement, design, development, testing, defect fixes, implementation, warranty, production support, documentation, and maintenance activities.

How you'll succeed

Design, development and delivery – your Mainframe knowledge and experiences enables you to deliver design and development in projects, on schedule with good quality. Essential skillset of Mainframe platform such as design concepts, integrations, programming languages, databases, utilities, tools, infrastructure and environments to ensure successful deliveries.

Continuous Improvement – be the advocate for and take ownership of continuous improvement in both process efficiency and effectiveness, as well as development best practices that ensures quality of work, be able to bring a positive influence to the team you work with. Contribute to technology roadmaps that are aligned with the bank’s vision, strategy, and business objectives.

Operational Efficiency – lead next level support for operational activities, problem solving and troubleshooting with logical sense of priority and urgency.

Mentorship – support and coach junior developers through knowledge sharing and collaboration; provide technical guidance to other project team members.
Who you are
-
You can demonstrate 5+ years of experience in Mainframe design and development with COBOL, ADGEN, GDF, IMS, DB2, EASYTRIEVE, JCL, CA-7, Libman/Endeavor and Host Facility. It is an asset if you have experience or knowledge with FTP, Feed Hub, NDM, MQ, Mainframe z/OS Environment, testing approaches, technical architecture, integrations, production environment, change management, Waterfall or agile methodologies.

You have a degree/diploma in Computer Science or related field.

You are a strong communicator. Ability to communicate ideas, concepts and solutions clearly, with experience in presentations such as decks, status, and reports.

You have solid collaboration skills. Ability to partner with other technology teams and operations teams for integrations and discussing solutions as well as effectively work with Business stakeholders for business requests and clarifications.
