Calix is looking for a Summer intern to join our Communications team. In this role, you will be part of a unique and award-winning internship program within the company. The program provides the opportunity to learn new skills through training and on the job learning. The expected duration is 90 days.

You'll develop skills in crafting compelling B2B technology narratives, supporting sales priorities, gaining exposure to executive leadership, and understanding corporate media relations—all through hands-on training and real-world projects. Responsibilities and Duties:
- Support the growing communications team, contributing to both external and internal communications projects.
- Learn the broadband industry and help shape stories across multiple channels. The communications team announces the news for Calix, ensuring key stories are effectively adapted from one format (e.g., press releases) to others like social media and media outreach.
- Research industry trends and competitor messaging.
- Draft and refine content in collaboration with communications leaders for both internal and external audiences.
- Brainstorm and refine headlines, subheads, and story concepts, sometimes spending an hour on a single headline to get it just right.
- Support the approval process by tracking feedback and ensuring content moves efficiently through review cycles.
- Manage and update communication tools and content repositories, ensuring accessibility and relevance.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to support development of key narratives.
- Support executive visibility efforts.
- Track and report on content performance to measure impact and contribute to optimization of storytelling strategies.
Qualifications:
- Strong writing skills with at least 1 sample (published or unpublished) is required. Please include writing clips as an additional attachment or incorporate into your resume.
- Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Creative Writing, Communications, or Marketing. Preference will be given to Juniors or Seniors who have previous internship or work experience.
- B2B writing experience is a plus. (A writing test may be requested.)
- Comfortable with technology and learning new apps and platforms.
- Experience in editing and managing a content review process.
- Excellent communication skills across all levels of an organization.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Able to work effectively in a remote environment, adapting to fast-changing priorities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Able to work for the complete summer break (May - August or June - September).

Compensation will vary based on geographical location (see below) within the United States. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's location of residence and multiple factors, including job-related skills, experience, and education.

San Francisco Bay Area Only:
21.85 - 28.75 USD Hourly
National Major Cities plus, CA, CO, NY Metro area:
19.00 - 25.00 USD Hourly
Regional plus NY:
17.10 - 22.50 USD Hourly
