Role Purpose

The Commercial Management Analyst supports the GCN Region’s business operations by providing essential commercial and pricing support, ensuring compliance with internal governance, and maintaining the accuracy of commercial data. This role is an entry point into commercial management, focusing on operational excellence, adherence to processes, and supporting the commercial team’s success.


Key Responsibilities

• Provide pricing details for products and services within the GCN Region.

• Coordinate with Global Product Line Managers to ensure up-to-date costing and pricing information.

• Obtain necessary approvals from stakeholders in line with internal governance and processes.

• Maintain and update regional price lists to enable repeat ordering and accurate quoting.

• Support the GCN commercial team in meeting or exceeding budget targets while maintaining financial integrity.

• Prepare profit and loss (P&L) statements and outline approval requirements from a financial perspective.

• Guide the team on internal deal governance documentation and ensure all pre-vetting is completed and recorded.

• Regularly update bid data and prepare standardized templates for commercial submissions.

• Align with regional teams to ensure special discounts are accurately reflected in business cases.

• Perform other duties as assigned to support the GCN Region’s commercial operations.


Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of experience in commercial or business operations.

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field (accounting designation highly regarded).

• Understanding of pricing and its complexities.

• Ability to work effectively in a matrix organization and multicultural environment.

• Commercially astute with outstanding operational and organizational skills.

• High ethical standards and integrity.

• Fluent in English with strong communication, creativity, and energy.

• Excellent written and presentation skills, proven at all levels inside and outside the company.

• Strong interpersonal, analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to travel as required within the GCN Region.


Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with commercial processes, pricing, or financial analysis.

• Familiarity with the GCN services portfolio or similar business models.

• Technical or operations experience is an asset.
 

Pay Range:
The annual pay range for this position is CAD $$60,100 - $85,000

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.

Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission. In addition to competitive compensation, Ciena offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision plans, participation in 401(K) (USA) & DCPP (Canada) with company matching, Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP), Employee Assistance Program (EAP), company-paid holidays, paid sick leave, and vacation time.
