About The Role


HUB International is seeking a motivated and client-focused Account Executive to join our Commercial Lines team in Ontario.

This role is responsible for developing and growing a portfolio of mid-market commercial clients by delivering tailored insurance and risk management solutions. The ideal candidate is a strong relationship builder with a proven track record in business development and a solid understanding of commercial insurance products.

As part of a collaborative team environment, you will work closely with account managers, technical specialists, and carrier partners to support both new business growth and client retention.

 

What You’ll Do

Business Development

  • Prospect, develop, and close new mid-market commercial accounts.

  • Build and manage a consistent sales pipeline to achieve revenue and growth targets.

  • Identify opportunities to provide comprehensive, multi-line insurance solutions including property, liability, automobile, cyber, and other specialty coverages.

  • Develop referral sources and maintain strong professional networks within the Ontario business community.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to maximize cross-selling opportunities.

 

Client Management

  • Act as a trusted advisor to commercial clients, providing strategic guidance on risk management and insurance program design.

  • Participate in renewal planning, coverage reviews, and client strategy discussions alongside service teams.

  • Stay informed on market conditions, underwriting trends, and regulatory developments affecting Ontario businesses.

  • Support long-term client retention through proactive engagement and responsive service.

 

Carrier & Market Engagement

  • Maintain productive relationships with insurance carriers and underwriters.

  • Negotiate terms and structure competitive solutions to meet client needs.

  • Represent HUB in the marketplace through networking and industry involvement.

 

 

Qualifications and expertise that pave the way for Success


  • 5+ years of commercial insurance experience, with a strong focus on new business development and relationship management.

  • RIBO license or ability to obtain quickly

  • Proven success building a profitable mid-market book of business within Ontario’s commercial sector.

  • Strong understanding of commercial P&C coverages and underwriting principles across diverse industries.

  • Established market presence and network of referral partners.

  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and presentation skills.

  • Self-starter with an entrepreneurial approach and commitment to collaboration.

  • CIP, CAIB, or CRM designations are considered an asset.

The compensation for this position is a variable compensation structure, i.e., discretionary draw plus commission.  As such, the total compensation earned will vary depending on the successful candidate’s book of business at a particular time.  The expected draw plus commission will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope and level. Due to the variable nature of this sales-based compensation structure, more definitive prospective information is not possible.  HUB International is proud to offer comprehensive benefit and total compensation packages which could include extended health benefits, disability insurance, RRSP matching, paid-time-off benefits, eligible bonuses and equity for some positions.
