Huawei Canada has an immediate 8-12month Co-op openings for a Researcher role.

About the team:

Founded in 2012, the Noah’s Ark lab has evolved into a prominent research organization with notable achievements in academia and industry. The lab’s mission focuses on advancing artificial intelligence and related fields to benefit the company and society. Driven by impactful, long-term projects, the aim is to enhance state-of-the-art research while integrating innovations into the company's products and services, including LLMs, RL, NLP, computer vision, audio, speech, AI theory, and Autonomous driving.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct fundamental research in Video Generation, Video Editing, and 3D Vision.

  • Develop innovations to support robust R&D in 2D and 3D AIGC domains.

  • Solve real-world problems leveraging stable, dedicated industry funding.

  • Publish research results in top-tier computer vision and AI conferences.

  • Collaborate and communicate actively within a team driven by technological curiosity.

Working closely with other research scientists, research engineers, and research interns, you will:

  • Invent state-of-the-art AI and computer vision algorithms to be published in top AI/CV conferences.

  • Design and implement AI/CV solutions to real-world problems, and land them in various Huawei products.

  • Supervise intern students in R&D projects.

The total target annual compensation for this position ranges from $58,000 to $104,000 depending on education, experience, and demonstrated expertise.

About the ideal candidate:

  • PhD or master's in computer science or related fields with a focus on computer vision and machine learning.

  • Papers at relevant conferences such as CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, AAAI, IJCAI, etc.

  • In-depth hands-on experience in Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch etc. and a track record of translating ideas into research prototypes quickly.

  • Working or internship experience at industry research labs or technology companies a plus.

  • Experience in training large-scale video generation/editing models, video world models, or 3D generation models a plus.
