About the Team
The Wind River Cloud team develops and delivers large-scale, cloud-native infrastructure solutions built on technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker, and OpenStack. We operate at the forefront of fast-evolving open-source ecosystems, integrating these technologies into a robust platform designed to meet the demanding requirements of edge computing, including high availability, low latency, security, and scalability.
We are a leading contributor to the open-source StarlingX project (https://www.starlingx.io/) which provides a fully integrated cloud platform optimized for distributed edge environments, with a strong focus on 5G and telecom use cases.
We are seeking a versatile Cloud Test & Automation Engineer to join our networking team; someone with strong expertise in validation, automation, and networking technologies, and a passion for building high-quality, reliable systems.
Responsibilities
- Design and maintain automation frameworks for Wind River Cloud Platform
- Develop and execute functional, integration, and end-to-end test plans
- Validate Kubernetes environments, including containerized workloads and networking (Calico, SR-IOV)
- Troubleshoot system, networking, and performance issues across the stack
- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines for continuous validation
- Collaborate with developers to identify issues and improve product quality
- Analyze system performance, scalability, and reliability under load
- Contribute to open-source testing and development within the StarlingX community
- Build tools and scripts to improve test coverage and efficiency
- Document test processes, results, and best practices
Qualifications/Skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in software validation and test automation for distributed or cloud-native systems
- Strong proficiency in Python, with experience designing and maintaining test automation frameworks (e.g., pytest, Robot Framework)
- Solid experience working in Linux environments, including system administration, debugging, and log analysis
- Strong understanding of Linux networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, routing, bridging, VLANs, and bonding
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes (K8s) and container technologies (e.g., Docker)
- Familiarity with Kubernetes networking, CNI plugins, SR-IOV is highly desirable
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Zuul, or similar)
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT) to improve productivity and automation workflows
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively in team environments
- Self-motivated, fast learner with the ability to quickly adapt and master new technologies
