Client Accounting Manager

Job Description Summary

Provide leadership and management of accounting team members to deliver high quality client service and financial reporting of Commercial Real Estate properties (retail, office and/or industrial). Support operations and clients through the use of sound judgment and discretion in applying accounting principles to day-to-day processes and functions. Assess team and department efficiencies to make improvement recommendations where necessary; lead with a collaborative and team minded approach promoting an inclusive environment.

Essential Job Duties:

• Direct new business onboarding by coordinating with property management and clients on varying applicable areas; ensure new bank accounts are set up, load prior balances or closing statements, review historical supporting schedules, provide guidance to accounting team in review of Property Management Agreements for billable services and fees.

• Monitor team performance, available capacity, and training needs through conducting one-on-one meetings, team meetings and addressing deficiencies timely and professionally, including review and approval of accountant entered time to ensure accuracy.

• Track team compliance with department processes and internal controls; approve banking or financial transactions, schedules and reports in accordance with internal policies and procedures and training; escalate and engage internal support teams to protect the interests of the firm and our clients, as needed.

• Review team members' financial reports to ensure quality, timeliness, audit compliance, and assess competencies; exercises professional judgement and skepticism in an effort to mitigate or detect fraudulent activity.

• Ensure the timely payment of tax and other critical payments. 

• Develop productive, supportive relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.

• Assess team/department workflows and policies to recommend or implement improvements in operating efficiencies and effectiveness.

• Develop direct reports (as applicable) through goal setting, conducting mid-year and year-end performance reviews and delivering timely and meaningful performance feedback, while maintaining quality results and performance.

• Lead or assist with departmental projects as required.

• Performs other related duties as required or requested.

Work Experience:

5-7 years of relevant experience in commercial real estate, or equivalent combination of education or experience

University Degree in Accounting or Finance.  CPA designation preferred.

Strong knowledge of Yardi software preferred, Microsoft Office Suite, financial reporting for multiple entities preferred; Exceptional delegation skills with the ability to be a hands-on contributor and take initiative; Ability to train, mentor and coach others; Results-oriented with strong sense of urgency; Strong time management and organizational skills.

The compensation for the position is: $93,500.00 - $110,000.00
