The Claims Representative III - Accident Benefits is responsible for handling a portfolio of very complex Accident Benefits Claims. They will work independently within their authority and receive support directly from the Specialist, National Accident Benefits Claims.
How you will create impact:
- Directly investigate, interpret coverage, reserve adequately, negotiate and settle very large and complex accident benefits claims.
- Handles complicated files such as Catastrophic Injuries, Out of Province, U.S. claims, priority issues.
- Regularly pursues, researches and applies case law to specific facts and share with technical teams.
- Contribute to a client service culture by embedding client engagement philosophies into daily work and implementing innovative, client-centric decision making, to be the industry leader in client engagement.
- Confidently handle mediations and settlement conferences without defense counsel present.
- Co-ordinate and direct the appropriate expert team, which may include: economists, lawyers, independent medical experts, etc., to assist in the assessment, evaluation and settlement of accident benefits claims.
- Work with clients, claimants and defense counsel on ensuring effective, timely and quality settlement of the claims.
- Coach and act as a technical resource for other claims staff.
To join our team:
- 5 years successful claims handling experience related to the discipline with progressively developing complexity, including experience with legal and complex claims
- You will be required to travel occasionally
- University/College Degree CIP designation or Rehab designation and pursuing further development.
- Expert knowledge of legislation, regulations, legal system Provincial adjuster license(s) maybe required dependent on the province of work.

Salary information:
Expected Salary range :$60,574.00 to $100,956.00 CAD
The salary amount for the successful candidate is determined by Co-operators in its discretion and will vary depending on several criteria including but not limited to: local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualification, experience and education.
Employees may also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn additional compensation tied to individual and/or business performance, or other business metrics.
