To help us tell our story and strengthen our voice, we’re searching for a talented professional to join the External Affairs Division and to lead our Strategic Corporate Communications Chapter.

The Opportunity:

As the Chapter Lead, Strategic Communications, you will:

  • Lead a Center of Excellence: Build, enable, and cultivate a best-in-class Strategic Corporate Communications function, centered on aligning how Roche Canada tells its story of impact both internally and externally.

  • Develop Talent and Capabilities: Hire, empower, and develop a team of communications experts, cultivating leaders for the future. You will embody Visionary, Architect, Coach, and Catalyst (VACC) principles so others thrive. And you’ll enhance communication and external engagement capabilities across the organization.

  • Champion Culture and Innovation: Be an architect in creating a dynamic, engaging, and inclusive workplace culture, making Roche Canada an exceptional place to work. Your leadership will align innovative initiatives with our Roche Pharma Canada vision, ensuring long-term impact and success.

  • Steward Roche Canada’s Narrative: Lead the development of the Roche Canada narrative, embedding in it our policy positions and enterprise-level thought leadership pillars, while ensuring that the resulting stakeholder engagement strategies resonate with key partners.

  • Be a Trusted Advisor: You are a thoughtful, strategic advisor to the President & CEO, VP External Affairs, other Roche Canada leaders, and global colleagues. Your counsel is sought out and deeply considered, given that you balance perspectives and are known for your integrity. 

  • Foster Engagement: Inspire collaboration across Roche Canada, One Roche, and the broader ecosystem by connecting with local and international stakeholders to drive clear and compelling communications.

  • Bring the Outside In: Conduct market sensing, interpret external insights, and integrate them into decision-making processes and business priorities to shape impactful outcomes.

  • Collaborate and Partner with Intention: You know how important partners are to advancing a program or mission, and do so with thought, care, and intention so that Roche Canada and our partners are well-positioned to thrive. 


Who You Are:

  • Extensive Expertise: A minimum of 10-12 years of communications management experience with a minimum of 7 years of leadership experience required, which can include individual or team management, as well as indirect leadership roles such as managing projects, coordinating teams, or overseeing initiatives.

  • Education:  A minimum of a 3 year undergraduate degree: Journalism, Communications and/or Health Policy preferred

  • Strategic Thinking: Your ability to make connections across concepts and insights, people and work, and to link them to a clear vision, are among your stand-out qualities. 

  • Visionary Storytelling: A refined ability to craft and execute forward-thinking narratives that establish thought leadership and influence key stakeholders.

  • Leadership Excellence: Demonstrated success in leading and developing high-performing, purpose-driven teams that thrive through collaboration and innovation.

  • Strategic Partnership: A proven track record of building relationships with internal and external partners that align goals, values, and outcomes.

  • Holistic Communication Skills: Expansive knowledge of the communications craft and principles, including corporate storytelling, media relations, issues management, policy and advocacy communications, employee relations, and community-focused engagement. Bilingual English-French is an asset.

  • Global Perspective: An ability to work within and align local communications strategies to a broader international framework. Experience in healthcare, life sciences, and government sectors is a significant asset.

Relocation benefits are not available for this job posting.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Mississauga is 148,568.00 and 194,995.50 of hiring range. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors as determined by the company.
