SUMMARY

The Business Service & Technology IT Specialist is responsible for providing technical support, installation, training and implementation services for CARQUEST stores and business systems.  

Office Responsibilities

Provide technical support for CARQUEST  Stores,  Exploris and Weblink / CQ Pro end users, perform technical support to keep all systems performing with minimum down time. Will be responsible for accurately diagnosing IT issues, ticket resolution and troubleshooting to complete resolution.

Field Responsibilities

Provide application and hardware installation, support and training for stores POS systems. Set up store networks, including all necessary cabling for printers, workstations, and phones. Participate as required in the independent and company-owned store changeovers, greenfield stores, ownership changes, remodels, relocations and acquisitions which can include data conversion, inventory control, profit control, data entry, store management system training, e-Commerce setup, training and application support. This would also include assistance in Shop Management System integration when required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Installs or oversees company-approved computer systems, software and equipment for Independent stores and company stores.
  • Sets up network in the store, including cabling, connection of routers and ISP. This also includes telephones in company-owned stores.
  • Troubleshoots and diagnoses both configuration, data, software and hardware issues for systems such as Exploris, CARQUEST Link, ISP and networking.
  • Participates in changeovers and acquisitions of new stores/customers as well as independent store ownership changes and store remodels. Provides special project support for various software or hardware rollouts to JV and/or Independent stores.
  • Train customers to use company-specific technologies such as Exploris, CARQUEST Link and WebLink.
  • Travels extensively throughout North America for up to two weeks at a time for the purpose of working with new store acquisitions, store changeovers, and/or implementation of systems and equipment.
  • In coordination with sales department, conducts demonstrations of current business technology products for current and prospective customers (stores). Additionally, on occasion assists with testing of Exploris release functions or new hardware, and building training courses.
  • Submits weekly reports on activities and the status of their current customer base, submits monthly billings of hardware/software for the independent customer base.
  • Attends periodic training as supplied by the company on existing technologies used by the company and new technologies as they become available.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bilingual French/English required.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows, MS Office, and networking
  • Ability to independently identify and resolve IT issues within a store's system and network.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work as a unified team member
  • Working knowledge of Exploris application
  • Working knowledge of ISP configurations and network cabling
  • Strong technical aptitude
  • Knowledge of Automotive Store business operations

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

4-6 years of related experience; automotive aftermarket experience is required; Previous experience providing IT technical support and training.

Position is eligible for bonus based on individual and group performance. 

Compensation Range: The range of expected compensation for this role is between 62,800.00 CAD and 80,000.00 CAD salary for a new team member. The rate offered to a successful candidate depends on multiple factors, including geographic location, experience in retail, automotive knowledge, education, leadership roles, and other skillsets ideal for this position and shift differential (if applicable).
