What you'll be doing

You’ll be joining CIBC’s Global Derivatives Technology (Capital Markets Technology) team. As a Business Systems Analyst, you’ll play a pivotal role in designing and delivering technology solutions for OTC derivatives across all asset classes, including interest rate, FX, commodities, equities, and credit. You will work closely with business and technology stakeholders to analyze complex derivative workflows, drive requirements gathering, and enable scalable, resilient platforms that support our trading, risk, operations, and compliance functions.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 2-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

How you'll succeed

  • Product and Trade Lifecycle: Drive initiatives to build and enhance platforms for OTC derivatives, supporting trade capture, lifecycle management, and end-to-end processing across multiple asset classes.
  • Requirements and Analysis: Gather, analyze, and document business and functional requirements, create data mappings, interface specifications, and acceptance criteria. Author high-quality BRDs/FRDs or user stories and ensure traceability from requirements through delivery.
  • Solution Design Support: Collaborate with product owners, architects, and developers to evaluate solution options, validate technical feasibility, and refine non-functional requirements such as data quality, performance, and operational resilience.
  • Data and APIs: Perform data analysis using SQL, contribute to API specifications (REST/JSON), and support integration efforts with internal and external platforms.
  • Testing and Delivery: Support UAT planning and execution, troubleshoot defects and production issues, and facilitate release readiness and post-implementation validation with robust testing and operational controls.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Build strong partnerships with Trading, Risk, Operations, Compliance, and QA teams. Effectively communicate complex concepts to diverse stakeholders, ensuring alignment on scope, priorities, and timelines.

Who you are

  • You can demonstrate at least 3 years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst in Capital Markets, with hands-on exposure to OTC derivatives and the full trade lifecycle. Strong skills in SQL and Excel for data analysis, and can create precise data mappings and validate transformations. Adept at writing requirements (user stories/BRDs/FRDs), acceptance criteria, and test scenarios, and have direct experience supporting UAT. Skilled at investigating production issues, performing impact analysis, and driving enhancements. Collaborate effectively with both business and technology teams, communicate technical topics clearly, and facilitate decision-making. It is an asset if you have familiarity with FpML/FIX, REST APIs/JSON, Python for analysis, derivatives platforms (Murex, Calypso), data visualization tools, Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban), Jira/Confluence, and regulatory reporting (Dodd-Frank, EMIR, MiFID II, UMR, DTCC).
  • You put our clients first. You engage with purpose to find the right solutions. You go the extra mile because it’s the right thing to do.
  • You give meaning to data. You enjoy investigating complex problems and making sense of information. You communicate detailed information in a meaningful way.
  • You're inspired by collective success. You know that teamwork can transform a good idea into a great one. You know that an inclusive team that enjoys working together can bring a vision to life.
  • Your influence makes a difference. You know that relationships and networks are essential to success. You inspire outcomes by sharing your expertise.
  • Values matter to you. You bring your real self to work, and you live our values - trust, teamwork, and accountability.
