About the role:

The Business Risk Manager supports the implementation and maintenance of risk, compliance, and internal control frameworks within the Operations department. Acting as the first line of defense, this role provides objective risk management advice and collaborates with key stakeholders to promote sound risk practices across the organization.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct risk and control self-assessments (RCSAs), initiative reviews, and compliance assessments
  • Facilitate process mapping and control evaluations
  • Analyze root causes of risks and track remediation plans
  • Identify and classify operational risk events (OREs), analyze causes, and develop mitigation plans
  • Ensure proper reporting and tracking of OREs and related action items
  • Monitor and report on open issues from audits, assessments, and KRIs
  • Align issue management practices across Operations
  • Collect and analyze KPI/KRI data and support operational risk reporting
  • Assist with updates to business processes and policies
  • Provide feedback on risk frameworks and document procedures
  • Deliver risk training and promote awareness across the organization
  • Build relationships with control functions and support business adoption of risk practices
  • Lead business continuity planning efforts within Operations
  • Act as the first point of contact for coordinating internal audits and regulatory examinations

What we’re looking for:

  • University degree in business, economics, finance, or relevant work experience
  • Professional certifications/designations preferred
  • 3–5 years in Risk Management, Internal Audit, Finance, or Operational Effectiveness within a regulated Canadian financial institution
  • Experience in facilitation, project management
  • Strong understanding of risk management
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Comfortable presenting to senior leadership
  • Collaborative, self-motivated, and results-driven
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Excellent communication, strategic thinking, and stakeholder management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to use data and insights to influence decision-making and drive improvements
  • Experience with process management, quality standards, and performance measurement

What you can expect - pay & process:

  • Expected base salary range is $80 000.00 - $105 000.00, plus the opportunity to earn an annual incentive bonus tied to performance.
