Job Description
The Business Development Representative (BDR) plays a critical role in driving revenue growth by proactively identifying, engaging, and qualifying new business opportunities. This is a true hunting role, with a primary focus on sourcing leads, locating prospects, initiating first contact, and driving interest in our solutions through outbound activities. The BDR is responsible for generating demand by finding prospects and converting engaged prospects into booked discovery meetings with the Account Executive. They will work closely with the sales and marketing teams to support pipeline development and ensure smooth handoffs, while consistently communicating the value of our products and solutions to prospective customers.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Research and identify potential customers through outbound calling, email outreach, and social selling.
- Work with Account Executives to build out call and email campaigns that support sales activities, including territory-relevant talk tracks and email templates.
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified leads to support the sales team’s monthly and quarterly targets.
- Collaborate with Account Executives to support follow-up with contacts from events, workshops, webinars, and roadshows.
- Serve as a professional and approachable first point of contact for new prospects, with emphasis on uncovering needs, sparking interest in our solutions, and connecting leads to the appropriate sales source for next steps.
- Book and schedule introductory discovery calls for Account Managers, ensuring a smooth handoff after a lead has been validated and establishing the foundation for the sales process to move forward.
- Represent the company at sponsorship events or in-market activities such as golf tournaments, charitable events, or luncheons to support prospecting and lead capture.
- Communicate clearly, professionally, and consistently, ensuring all lead notes, outreach activities, and follow-up details are captured accurately in Salesforce.
- Display resilience and persistence, remaining confident and engaged when encountering rejection, competitive pressures, or challenging outreach efforts.
- Be highly self-motivated, demonstrating strong initiative, discipline, and ambition in a remote environment.
- Exhibit excellent time-management and organizational skills, balancing outreach, events, and follow-up tasks to support the timely progression of potential sales.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or a related discipline
- 1-2 years of previous experience in a SaaS Business Development Representative (BDR) or Sales Development Representative (SDR) role is strongly preferred.
- Prior experience in a customer service environment is an asset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Friendly, approachable, and outgoing personality – with a keen interest in meeting new people and telling them our story.
- Working knowledge of social media platforms and tools.
- Adaptable with the ability to prioritize tasks with limited in-person supervision.
- Ability to travel, with use of a personal vehicle required.
