About BUILD IT

BUILD IT is a commercial construction and design-build company serving the Greater Toronto Area. We design, bid, contract, and build across workspace, hospitality, retail, and landlord projects. This role sits at the front of our growth — creating the new client relationships that feed the pipeline.

The role

This is a new, hunter-style business development role created to grow BUILD IT's book of business across the GTA. You'll open doors that don't exist yet: prospecting owners, developers, architects, franchise groups, and commercial decision-makers, then carrying those relationships from first contact toward signed work. It's a create-from-scratch role, not an inbound or account-servicing one — you'll spend your time on outreach, meetings, and follow-up, and you'll be measured on the pipeline and revenue you generate.

What you'll do

• Build and maintain an active, qualified GTA opportunity pipeline through consistent outbound prospecting, networking, and direct market outreach.

• Convert early-stage outreach into meetings with owners, developers, architects, franchise groups, and other high-value prospects.

• Advance opportunities through the sales cycle — supporting proposals, presentations, and deal strategy — to help convert qualified opportunities into signed business.

• Manage pipeline and activity discipline in a CRM.

• Represent BUILD IT at networking events, site visits, and trade shows (includes some evening networking during the month and local GTA travel).

What we're looking for

• Proven success in sales, business development, outbound prospecting, or new-business generation — with clear, quantified outcomes.

• A demonstrated hunter mentality: identifying, pursuing, and creating new business from scratch rather than servicing inbound or existing accounts.

• Strong track record building relationships with decision-makers and turning them into qualified opportunities and revenue.

• Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, with genuine comfort cold calling, cold emailing, networking, and following up persistently.

• Disciplined pipeline management and activity tracking in a CRM (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive).

• Legally authorized to work in Canada.

Nice to have

• Experience in construction, commercial construction, architecture, design-build, millwork, commercial real estate, franchising, hospitality, retail, or related B2B services.

• An existing GTA network among owners, developers, architects, designers, franchise groups, property managers, or hospitality/retail decision-makers.

• Experience selling project-based services, high-value contracts, or complex B2B solutions, and building a territory or book of business from the ground up.

Compensation & benefits

• Base salary range: $70,000–$80,000 per year.

• Variable: commission/bonus tied to revenue generated, qualified opportunities advanced, and signed business (structure discussed during the process).

• Benefits summary provided during the hiring process.
