The Business Development, Lead, Public Sector, Municipal and Transit will be accountable for creating and executing strategic business development plans that will drive revenue growth from Canadian Transit Authorities and Municipalities. There is a focus on driving net new revenue opportunities by developing new partnerships to expand Interac’s reach in the market and accelerate business development activities.

You’ll be responsible for:  

  • Lead sales efforts to drive the adoption and growth of Interac products in the public sector, particularly focusing on Interac Debit for Transit Authorities as well as Interac Verified and Interac payment products for Municipalities.

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with large public sector entities, with a specific focus on Canadian municipalities.

  • Respond to public sector tenders and participate in the end-to-end sales cycle, ensuring alignment with the needs of internal and external stakeholders.

  • Working collaboratively across product lines to develop commercialization opportunities that leverage the full suite of Interac product capabilities.

  • Build and execute sales strategies that position Interac for long-term success in the transit space.

  • Advocating on behalf of clients internally to ensure that the voice of clients is captured in future product and process enhancements.

  • Contributing to the achievement of business development plan objectives, meeting and exceeding sales targets and timeframes, while driving results and contributing to the creation of business development strategic and annual operating plans.

You bring:  

  • Post secondary degree, ideally in Commerce or Business Administration.

  • 7-10 years of experience in business development or sales, with a strong focus on the public sector, experience with municipalities/transit authorities is an asset.

  • Eligibility to work for Interac Corp. in Canada in a full-time capacity. 

  • Proven experience navigating long public sector sales cycles and securing high-value contracts.

  • Familiarity with verification and payment technologies; knowledge of the payments industry is a strong asset.

  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with senior stakeholders in large organizations, particularly within the government or public sector.

  • Strong track record of responding to public sector tenders and driving successful outcomes.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically
