So, if you are talented, driven, creative, and eager to join a dynamic, globally-connected team, then we want to talk!

What we do:

The Trade Desks’ Business Development team specializes on finding, building, and growing strategic partnerships with the most innovative advertisers and agencies.
Our role is to identify, form and strengthen relationships through building trust with client partners across a range of different roles and seniority, from CEO’s and Heads of Digital to investment and activation executives. We’re immensely proud of our independence and objectivity in the programmatic ecosystem and our role as consultants and advisors for access to, and success in, the entirety of the premium open internet. We actively listen, meet clients where they are on their digital journey and add value by solving complex problems with simplified solutions. Here at The Trade Desk, we're in search of Business Development Directors who are master relationship builders, strategic consultants and creative problem solvers to join our growing team.

What you’ll do

  • Lead and grow commercial relationships with some of The Trade Desk’s most strategic Canadian advertisers across priority verticals, including CPG and Retail.
  • Own a significant, quota‑carrying book of business, with accountability for revenue growth, pipeline development, forecast accuracy, and identifying opportunities to exceed assigned growth targets.
  • Translate client business objectives into actionable, outcome‑driven media and investment strategies, leveraging The Trade Desk’s platform, data, and measurement capabilities to deliver measurable impact.
  • Build and negotiate executive‑level Joint Business Plans (JBPs) that formalize long‑term partnerships, align strategic priorities, and drive incremental investment.
  • Provide thought leadership by shaping clients’ media buying, data, and measurement approaches, influencing how programmatic advertising supports business outcomes.
  • Serve as a senior, trusted advisor to key client decision‑makers, engaging across programmatic, media, insights, and business teams.
  • Partner closely with internal client‑facing teams - including Business Development, Client Services, and Technical Account Management, to ensure seamless execution against commercial and client objectives.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally to bring new inventory, data partnerships, measurement solutions, and custom opportunities to market in support of client growth and net‑new revenue opportunities.

Who you are:

  • commercially savvy, growth‑oriented seller who thrives on building trusted client relationships and owning revenue across complex advertiser portfolios.
  • 10+ years of sales experience in digital advertising, with a strong knowledge of programmatic advertising and the modern media ecosystem.
  • A proven quota‑carrier with a consistent track record of exceeding revenue targets through a combination of net‑new business development and expansion of existing relationships.
  • Experience working with or within a CPG or Retail brand is preferred, particularly for candidates who bring deep commercial experience.
  • A consultative seller with experience at a DSP or digital advertising platform, comfortable engaging senior client stakeholders on business outcomes, not just media execution.
  • A collaborative team player with strong communication, executive presence, and organizational skills, who can influence and align internal stakeholders.
  • Confident leading client conversations, owning the room, and partnering with internal teammates to structure, negotiate, and close impactful commercial agreements.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce and contract lifecycle tools (CLM), with the ability to work cross‑functionally with Legal, Product, Marketing, and Inventory teams.
