Are you passionate about bridging business, design, and technology to create scalable, consistent digital experiences? As a Business Systems Analyst for Manulife’s Global Design System (GDS), you will translate business and product objectives into actionable requirements that guide the development of components, patterns, templates, and tokens used across Web, Mobile, and Native platforms.

This role is ideal for someone with strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of design systems, and experience working collaboratively in cross‑functional product teams. You’ll work closely with designers, engineers, and product managers to ensure our design system supports accessibility, brand consistency, and technical feasibility at a global scale.

Position Responsibilities
  • Partner with Design Leads, Technical Leads, and Product Managers to capture, clarify, and translate business and product needs into clear, actionable design system requirements.

  • Document functional and non‑functional requirements for components, patterns, templates, and tokens—covering dependencies, edge cases, and accessibility needs.

  • Facilitate discovery sessions and design system intake reviews with global design, engineering, and business stakeholders.

  • Synthesize segment input to define global requirements and route non‑global needs to sub‑libraries where appropriate.

  • Evaluate contribution requests from segment IT and HCD leads for completeness, quality, and alignment with global standards.

  • Maintain clear, accurate Zeroheight documentation and Figma specifications as the source of truth for GDS assets.

  • Apply working knowledge of Figma libraries, Storybook, component architecture, and accessibility (WCAG 2.2 AA) to validate requirements and guide design/technical discussions.

Required Qualifications
  • 3–5 years of experience as a Business Analyst, Systems Analyst, or similar role within digital product or design‑system teams.

  • Direct experience with design systems (enterprise or global preferred).

  • Strong understanding of UX/UI design and front‑end development practices, including Figma, Storybook, and component‑driven development.

  • Proven ability to write clear, comprehensive documentation for both technical and non‑technical audiences.

  • Experience in Agile environments, including backlog management and running refinement sessions in Jira/Confluence.

  • Excellent facilitation and communication skills, with the ability to bridge business, design, and technical perspectives.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities across global time zones and business lines.

  • Familiarity with design tokens and accessibility best practices.

  • Experience working in a global enterprise or financial services organization.

  • Background in UX strategy, service design, or front‑end development.

When You Join Our Team
  • We’ll empower you to learn and grow the career you want.

  • We’ll recognize and support you in a flexible environment where well‑being and inclusion are more than just words.

  • As part of our global team, we’ll support you in shaping the future you want to see
