Our challenge

We are seeking a knowledgeable and driven Business Analyst (Product Owner) with a robust background in financial crime compliance, specifically in Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Know Your Customer (KYC), and consent orders. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between business needs and technical solutions, ensuring that compliance projects align with regulatory requirements and organizational goals.

Additional Information

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Mississauga, ON is CAD $100k – CAD $115k/year & benefits (see below).

The Role

Responsibilities:

  • Requirements Gathering: Collaborate with stakeholders, including compliance, legal, and operational teams, to gather and document business requirements related to AML and KYC initiatives.
  • Product Ownership: Act as the Product Owner for compliance-related projects, defining product vision, managing the product backlog, and prioritizing features to maximize value delivery.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as a primary point of contact for stakeholders, ensuring clear communication of project objectives, status, and requirements.
  • Regulatory Expertise: Provide insights into AML and KYC regulations, ensuring that product features and enhancements comply with legal standards and best practices.
  • Analysis and Documentation: Conduct thorough analysis of current processes and workflows, identifying areas for improvement and documenting functional specifications.
  • User Acceptance Testing (UAT): Oversee and coordinate UAT efforts, ensuring that solutions meet business requirements and compliance standards.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks related to financial crime compliance and collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop mitigation strategies.
  • Continuous Improvement: Advocate for process improvements and innovation in compliance practices, leveraging data and feedback to enhance product offerings.
  • Training and Support: Provide training and support to end-users and stakeholders on new processes and tools related to AML and KYC.

Requirements:

You are:

  • Experience Range: 10+ Years
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g.,CSPO, Agile certifications) are a plus.
  • Senior Business Analyst (Product Owner), within the financial services or compliance sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of financial crime compliance, particularly AML, KYC, and consent order processes.

Skills:

  • Strong facilitation, coaching, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing requirements in a fast-paced environment.

Soft skills:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualification:

  • Experience with regulatory compliance tools and software.
  • Familiarity with data analytics and visualization tools.
  • Knowledge of industry trends and emerging risks related to financial crime.
