What you'll be doing

As an Analyst within the Simplii Financial Operations team, you'll play a pivotal role in maintaining the financial integrity of our operations through reconciliation and reporting. You'll be responsible for daily reconciliation, accounting, and reporting functions, managing and balancing the Bank's ledger accounts—including Automated Banking Machines (ABM), Point of Sale (POS), Remote Banking (RB), and over 30 suspense accounts for Simplii. You'll prepare timely and accurate journal entries, financial information, and attestations, ensuring compliance with CIBC policies and procedures. Your work will involve collaborating with multiple business areas, acting as both a receiver and provider of financial information, and driving improvements that help shape the future of banking at Simplii.

At CIBC, we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. Details on your work arrangement (proportion of on-site and remote work) will be discussed during your interview.

How you'll succeed

  • Data Integrity – Balance the Bank's functions by reconciling suspense accounts used by Retail Client Services (RCS), Retail Payment Services (RPS), and Operational Risk units. Match reports to the general ledger (GL) and resolve outstanding items in suspense accounts.

  • Analysis – Manage daily, monthly, and year-end financial activities, including critical review of journal entries and proactive communication of variances to ensure timely and accurate accounting. Utilize Data Bricks (SQL) and Microsoft Power BI to review exceptions and conduct forensic research for system and client exceptions.

  • Processing – Prepare and journalize monthly computations, calculate and balance the Bank's accounts, and generate customized reports across daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual timelines using MS Excel.

  • Collaboration – Work closely with business partners and cross-functional teams to resolve challenges, foster a collaborative culture, and actively contribute to team development and shared success.

  • Compliance – Ensure Finance SOX controls (including suspense accounts) are effective and performed regularly to identify and manage exposure to risks. Follow Records Management procedures to store and archive digital documents for future reference.

  • Project Support – Gain a strong understanding of project requirements and work with core systems to enhance investigation and reconciliation processes. Participate in ad hoc projects as assigned.

Who you are

  • You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You focus on delivering outstanding service to internal partners and clients, building trust through respect and authenticity.

  • You're passionate about people. You find meaning in relationships, surround yourself with a diverse network of partners, and foster an inclusive environment.

  • You're digitally savvy. You embrace innovative solutions and evolving technologies, adapting easily to new tools and trends.

  • You have experience or interest in digital banking, automation, and continuous improvement. You are eager to contribute to process enhancements and operational excellence.

  • You love to learn. You're passionate about growing your knowledge and believe there is no limit to what you can achieve.

  • You're driven by collective success. You understand the power of collaboration and enjoy working in a team to bring shared visions to life.

  • Values matter to you. You bring your real self to work, and you live our values - trust, teamwork, and accountability.
