What We're Looking For

We’re looking for a full-time Bookkeeper with a passion for technology, healthcare innovation, and fast-paced entrepreneurial environments. You’ll play a key role in supporting our mission to transform the Canadian healthcare experience through a modern digital pharmacy model. As Phoenix’s Bookkeeper, you will help maintain accurate and timely financial information that supports data-driven decision-making across our growing organization.

You’ll partner closely with Operations to ensure financial data flows accurately across pharmacy activities, inventory, payment systems, and accounting. This alignment supports precise reconciliations, timely reporting, and smooth execution of payroll, AP/AR, and inventory bookkeeping. You’ll also manage bookkeeping for multiple related entities, ensuring proper intercompany accounting and reconciliations that strengthen consolidated financial visibility.

What You’ll Do
  • Perform full-cycle bookkeeping on QuickBooks Online.

  • Maintain the general ledger, ensuring accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions for multiple entities.

  • Reconcile bank accounts, payment processors, and internal pharmacy systems.

  • Support payroll processing through an external payroll provider.

  • Prepare monthly reconciliations and continuities for all balance sheet accounts and key P&L accounts, including variance analyses and preparation of monthly working papers per entity, along with supporting schedules.

  • Prepare and file payroll and sales tax remittances.

  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring prompt follow-up and accurate reporting.

  • Assist with inventory-related bookkeeping for pharmacy products, including COGS tracking.

  • Develop, refine, and maintain internal financial processes and policies, ensuring compliance within a regulated healthcare environment.

  • Collaborate closely with team members to support efficient and aligned financial operations.

  • Manage bookkeeping across multiple entities, including inter-company transactions, reconciliations, and support for consolidated reporting.

What You’ll Bring
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a bookkeeper.

  • Experience using QuickBooks Online.

  • Experience using Float and Plooto are a plus.

  • Strong understanding of accrual accounting and reconciliation best practices.

  • Experience managing multi-entity bookkeeping or inter-company accounting (an asset).

  • Experience with inventory accounting.

  • Canadian payroll experience (payroll certification is an asset but not required).

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills and comfort interacting with internal stakeholders.

  • A high degree of professionalism and discretion — critical when working with sensitive health-related information.

  • Exceptional time management and the ability to prioritize effectively in a dynamic environment.

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuracy under pressure.

  • A proactive, solution-oriented approach and strong judgment.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a close-knit on-site team.

Why work at Phoenix?
  • Impact & autonomy. You’ll work directly with passionate, experienced leaders who understand the ups-and-downs of the business and you'll have a real opportunity to shape the future at Phoenix

  • Rewarding Mission. We're delivering the best healthcare experience to Canadians across the country

  • Collaborative Culture. We are a growing elite team in Downtown Toronto. We love the tight feedback loop of working together in the office. If you've missed that in-person office experience, and love sharing strongly held opinions of the best lunch spot nearby, this is the role for you
