Job Description

As a BIM Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful implementation of Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes throughout the project lifecycle. Your primary responsibility will be to oversee the creation, management, and coordination of BIM models and data to support the design, construction, and operation phases of the project. 

  • Model Coordination: Coordinate with various stakeholders including engineers, contractors, and subcontractors to integrate their design and construction models into a federated BIM model. Resolve clashes and conflicts to maintain clash-free coordination.  

  • Quality Assurance: Conduct regular quality checks on BIM models and data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements and standards.  

  • Collaboration: Facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration by managing BIM coordination meetings, communicating design changes, and fostering a collaborative environment among project team members.  

 

  • Documentation: Maintain thorough documentation of BIM processes, model revisions, and coordination activities. Generate reports and documentation as required by project stakeholders.  

  • Training and Support: Provide training and support to project team members on BIM tools, processes, and best practices. Offer technical assistance and troubleshooting for BIM-related issues.  

  • Technology Integration: Stay updated on emerging BIM technologies and tools. Evaluate and recommend new software solutions or workflows to enhance project efficiency and productivity.  

  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations pertaining to BIM implementation and data exchange.  

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. 

  • Proven experience working as a BIM Coordinator or similar role on large-scale construction projects, preferably in the transportation or infrastructure sector. 

  • Knowledge of BIM software such as Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, and/or Bentley MicroStation. 

  • Understanding of BIM principles, processes, and standards (e.g., ISO 19650). 

  • Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills. 

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple stakeholders and tight deadlines.
