The Big Data Engineer - Sr Lead is a senior level position responsible for establishing and implementing new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology Team. The overall objective of this role is to lead applications systems analysis and programming activities.
Responsibilities:

Provide strategic influence and exercise control over resources, budget management and planning while monitoring end results.

Lead integration of functions to meet goals, deploy new products, and enhance processes.

As a platform and framework development lead, manage and monitor hygiene and performance issues for smooth integration and upgrades across frameworks.

Lead, align and manage the development and enhancement of UI application for data ingestion for monitoring and report generations.

Lead, plan, and manage development & sustainability of frameworks, and Outbound and Batch processing framework.

Lead Frameworks and Platform activities/support.

Analyze complex business processes, system processes, and industry standards to define and develop solutions to high level problems.

Provide expertise in area of advanced knowledge of applications programming and plan assignments involving large budgets, cross functional project, or multiple projects.

Develop application methodologies and standards for program analysis, design, coding, testing, debugging, and implementation.

Utilize advanced knowledge of supported main system flows and comprehensive knowledge of multiple areas to achieve technology goals.

Consult with end users to identify system function specifications and incorporate into overall system design.

Allocate work, and act as an advisor/coach developers, analysts, and new team members.

Influence and negotiate with senior leaders and communicate with external parties.

Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Qualifications:
-
Hands-on engineering lead with 12+ years of experience in Application Development and management using various Data Engineering and Software Engineering tools and technologies.

6+ years of experience in designing, building, and deploying production-level high volume data pipelines using tools from Hadoop stack (HDFS, Spark, Hive, Impala, Scala, Java, Python, Kafka etc.)

8+ years of experience in designing and developing data pipelines for data ingestion using Spark with strong programming experience in Java/Scala/Python.

Experience in understanding complex SQLs and exposure to Database Design Concepts including Data Modeling, Logical/Conceptual Design
-
8+ years of applications development experience in Monitoring, Building Tools, Version Control, Unit Test, TDD and Change Management to support DevOps

4+ years of experience in people management

Experience managing global technology teams.

Demonstrated knowledge of client core business functions

Demonstrated leadership, project management, and development skills

Relationship and consensus building skills
Education:

Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
