About the Role

Abnormal Security seeks a Software Engineer to join the Inbound Email Products—Systems (IEPS) team. The MSP IEPS team is responsible for Abnormal’s core Inbound Email Security product backend systems, including Remediation and Threat Log (data processing and storage). Our objective is to make Abnormal the top detection engine by enhancing stability and scalability and expanding our product's impact on customers by serving more types of customers.

The IEPS team develops and manages essential components of Abnormal’s flagship Email Security product, such as Remediation Flows and Customer Portal Dashboards. This is a back-end-focused team, and the ideal candidate will have experience working with distributed systems at scale.

What you will do 

  • Design & Execute Software Projects which are critical to Abnormal’s success with a group of engineers, through conception, design, implementation, launch & operation. 
  • Provide guidance and mentorship for junior members of the team 
  • Collaborate with Technical Program Managers, Product Managers, Go-To-Market teams in order to implement, verify and iterate on the issues & requests coming from our customers
  • Raise the bar of excellence in engineering, actively contributing to knowledge sharing within the team and participating in professional development activities.

Must Haves 

  • BS degree in Computer Science, Applied Sciences, Information Systems or other related engineering field
  • 3+ years of industry experience on backend software development & distributed systems, designing & building software applications
  • Experience with our stack: Python and/or Go
  • Experience working with distributed teams, proficient in asynchronous and written communication
  • Experience building features & components from scratch and operating them, balancing feature development work with operational tasks
  • Open to following pre-established guidelines, coding practices and conventions
  • You’re growth driven & looking to increase impact & responsibility over time

Nice to Have 

  • Experience with our stack: AWS, K8, Django, Spark, Prometheus
  • Familiarity with AWS services and deployment practices.
  • Knowledge of containerization using Docker or similar technologies.
