Role Title

AWS Cloud Systems Engineer

Purpose of role

As the AWS Cloud Systems Engineer, you will be a key member of our growing infrastructure team. You will participate in IT infrastructure and development projects, providing subject matter expertise in AWS technologies with a focus on Connect. This role is responsible for identifying potential system issues, conducting research, performing cost-benefit analysis based on industry-standard platforms and applications, and providing feasible recommendations and/or solutions. In this capacity, you will drive innovation by evaluating emerging trends and ensuring our infrastructure remains cutting-edge and cost-effective. Working in partnership with our Architecture team, your thought leadership will be instrumental in supporting our vision for the future that integrates AWS capabilities with our business goals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Additionally, you will offer applicable hands-on guidance and coaching to our business units, empowering them to leverage AWS Cloud services full potential, optimizing customer interactions, and streamlining communication workflows. Your expertise will be pivotal in enabling teams to navigate the complexities of AWS services, ensuring they are equipped with the knowledge and skills to implement solutions that enhance our operational efficiency.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct Proof of Concepts (PoCs) as required, with clear success criteria and testing aligned with our strategic goals.
  • Work with Enterprise Architecture group to build technology roadmaps. Initiate Continuous Service Improvements (CSI), recommend solutions and/or changes to improve performance, stability, functionality, or systems management processes.
  • Explore new AWS technologies to determine benefits to the corporation and provide recommendations.
  • Plan, build, and run all aspects of the AWS infrastructure.
  • Assist in implementing policies and procedures for IT operations (Incident, Problem & Change Management)
  • Conduct cybersecurity-related testing and remediation, including source code security review, penetration & perimeter testing, Rapid 7, firewall, connectivity, and system monitoring.
  • Research, analyze, and resolve cybersecurity vulnerabilities within the AWS environment.
  • Leverage AWS security tools to measure and enhance our environment.
  • Work with AWS management tools to remediate and manage the environment.
  • Manage Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) for multiple environments from Azure, AWS to SaaS
  • Ensure regular communication status reporting with the Project Sponsor, sites, users, and deliver projects on-time.
  • Provide third-level support for production incidents as needed, perform emergency remediation if necessary.
  • Conduct post-incident root cause analysis.
  • Ensure all AWS Connect systems are monitored for problems and take corrective actions urgently when required.
  • Establish vendor services and resolve problems, as applies to AWS technology.
  • Ensure up-to-date documentation outlining all procedures and relevant configurations for recovery, administration, and troubleshooting purposes are available.
  • Ensure all changes to the environment are deployed using Foresters CI/CD DevOps pipeline.
  • Ensure all changes to the AWS environment are being documented and maintained.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Key Qualifications

  • Post-Secondary bachelor’s degree in computer science, programming, Network Engineering, or relevant Engineering field coupled with related Professional Certifications/Designations
  • Full knowledge of DevOps disciplines and alignment for Foresters CI/CD processes, infrastructure as code development.
  • Security conscious with 5+ years of experience providing system administration support in a production environment, with a focus on AWS Connect
  • Good knowledge of telephony, networks, load balancing, switching, firewalls
  • Exceptional understanding of AWS, Microsoft Azure, Windows servers
  • AWS certification such as AWS Tech Essentials, Developer Associate, etc. is desirable.
  • Good understanding of Linux RHEL & CentOS
  • Exceptional expertise and experience with Microsoft365 & Active Directory
  • Proficient in managing virtual environments infrastructure
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
