Job Description:
We’re looking for an AVP, Financial Accounting to lead the long-term strategic direction of our TJX Canada Financial Accounting function and guide a high performing team. As part of a global team, in this corporate role you will shape and execute accounting strategy, oversee the preparation of financial statements for the Canadian division as part TJX Corporate’s consolidation, and strengthen internal controls and compliance. You’ll also champion process improvements and partner across TJX Canada to support evolving business needs. What You’ll Do:
- Lead the strategic direction of the Financial Accounting function in Canada, ensuring strong governance, SOX compliance, and effective execution of accounting responsibilities.
- Oversee timely, accurate financial reporting, including divisional financial statements and capital budget reporting.
- Drive operational excellence by managing monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes with a strong focus on internal controls.
- Champion continuous improvement across the function and collaborate with Global Accounting partners to enhance cross divisional processes and reporting.
- Partner closely with Global Accounting, TJX Canada Finance, Supply Chain, Store Operations and other key teams to align systems, processes, and resource allocation.
- Build and execute a strong talent strategy by coaching People Leaders, developing future managers, and fostering an engaged, high performing team.
About You:
- Minimum 10 years of progressive finance and/or accounting experience, including leadership of a finance function and oversight of controls, governance, strategy, and risk management, ideally within a retail environment.
- Post‑secondary education in a related field preferred; CPA designation and/or Master’s Degree (MBA) considered a strong asset.
- Deep expertise in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), along with strong project management capabilities (including structured methodologies and Agile exposure).
- Demonstrated ability to analyze quantitative and qualitative data to develop effective strategies, policies, and operational solutions.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to influence senior leaders, coach People Leaders, and build a high performing team.
- Strong collaboration, communication, and relationship building skills, including facilitation, negotiation, interviewing, and active listening.
- Exceptional organizational, problem solving, and critical thinking abilities with the capacity to manage multiple priorities under time pressure and drive change across largescale initiatives.
