What you’ll do
We are seeking an experienced, strategic and delivery-focused Assistant Vice President (AVP) to oversee our Finance and HR Platforms. This role reports into the VP, Value Enablement – Merchandising, Finance and HR Platforms. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both finance and human resources systems, with a proven track record of managing complex projects, driving innovation, and delivering results. This role requires strategic vision, technical and delivery expertise, and excellent leadership skills.
Strategic Leadership & Platform Management
Owns a multi‑year, enterprise‑scale technology portfolio roadmap supporting Finance and HR across all banners.
Accountable for measurable enterprise outcomes across Finance and HR, including platform stability, modernization, value realization, and business adoption, aligned to Canadian Tire’s strategy and must win goals.
Ideate, maintain, and deliver the AI-driven roadmap in partnership with key stakeholders and in line with business priorities.
Proactively identify potential risks associated with platform operations and develop mitigation strategies.
Delivery Excellence
Ensure programs are delivered on time, on budget, and with clear business value.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
Leverage best practices in agile and hybrid delivery models to drive transparency, velocity, and continuous improvement.
Monitor and manage program KPIs, health metrics, and risks, escalating proactively where needed.
Ensure all Finance and HR platforms comply with relevant regulations, standards, and best practices.
Team Leadership & Vendor Management
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of senior technology leaders/managers responsible for managing the Finance and HR platforms.
Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture that encourages continuous learning and development and is accountable for succession and talent health.
Establish and maintain relationships with key vendors and service providers.
Negotiate contracts and manage vendor performance to ensure high-quality service delivery.
What you bring
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, or a related field required; MBA or advanced degree an asset.
10+ years of experience with Finance and HR platforms with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
Senior technology leadership experience driving large‑scale enterprise platforms, with significant depth in Finance systems (ERP, Finance operations, controls, reporting, analytics).
Demonstrated experience leading Finance Transformation initiatives, including platform modernization and value‑based delivery.
Strong understanding of AI, automation, and data capabilities applied to Finance and enterprise platforms.
Experience overseeing Finance/HR platforms (e.g., Workday) within a complex, multi‑business environment.
Proven ability to partner with executive stakeholders and lead complex vendor ecosystems.
Strong financial acumen, governance mindset, and experience managing large technology portfolios and operating budgets.
