What you'll be doing

The Advanced Analytics and Artificial Intelligence team is the center of AI excellence within CIBC and is leading the way in applying the best practices in artificial intelligence, machine learning and Gen AI, leveraging the latest technology and platforms. Our work covers every aspect of the research life cycle, from partnering with Academia to building production systems. We work with product, technology, and business partners to apply the state of the art in AI to our business.

The candidate selected for this role will work in our Toronto office while reporting into our US Data Management Office.  This position will be embedded in our Enterprise Advanced Analytics and AI team, working on US projects and use cases.  Reporting directly into the Director, Automation and Applied AI and dotted line reporting into the Sr. Director Advanced Analytics and AI with frequent travel to the US required.

The US Data Management Office (US DMO) is responsible for establishing data as a strategic asset for CIBC US Region by building out our data and analytics capabilities, developing the US Region data management strategy, automating business processes, and enhancing data governance. With your defined practical experience in the domain of Artificial Intelligence, you will apply your knowledge and experience of advanced modelling to solve challenging business problems and building innovative solutions. You’ll interact with groups across the organization, such as Fraud, Wealth, Risk and Capital Markets. You’ll work with real world structured and unstructured datasets to produce end-to-end solutions, taking models from experiment to deployment.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role you’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, in Toronto office while other days will be remote. Please Note: This role will require you to travel to the U.S. frequently.

How you'll succeed

  • Data Science Expertise - Provide advanced analytics solutions to solve business problem leveraging statistics, machine learning, natural language processing, generative AI, and optimization techniques. Ability to conduct self-directed research, typically using non-traditional resources to solve business problems.

  • Analytical Partner - You will work with business units to understand their needs, opportunities and pain points. Translate data to insights that enable informed decision making. Focus on relationship building and become the trusted analytical partner.

  •  Ignite innovation, drive actions - Participate in an analytics community whose goal is to foster and share analytic approaches across the enterprise. Liaise with internal resources or academic institution to obtain and discuss best practices. Be a passionate innovator and collaborator who is up for the challenge of building the bank of the future. Drive results through the application of AI and Machine Learning use cases. 

     

Who you are

  • You have a degree in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or a related field.

  • You can demonstrate experience in predictive analytics, time-series forecasting, natural language processing (NLP), natural language understanding (NLU), and/or other AI techniques.

  • You have extensive hands-on experience with at least one AI toolkit, such as Python, SAS, or R. Proficient in writing SQL/ Spark scripts, developing robust and efficient modular Python code in a non-notebook environment, creating APIs, and building data pipelines

  • You display a strong understanding of machine learning frameworks, including TensorFlow, PyTorch, and LangChain. Experience with transformer models and generative AI techniques. Familiarity with Git or other version control tools.

  • You advocate for change and have the ability to adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic work environment.
