With Athlete Marketing representing one of the central pillars of Red Bull’s marketing mix, the Athlete Marketing program aims to leverage its elite roster of athletes to bring new Canadians into the world of Red Bull and reinforce the brand’s premium position. To accomplish this, The Athletes Marketing Specialist assists the respective Sr. Manager in executing projects and programs and takes self-responsibility for selected athlete projects and initiatives across the country – including but not limited to athlete performance, athlete content projects, tailored athlete marketing and communications, new talent discovery, and cross-functional teamwork.

Job Description

ATHLETE MANAGEMENT

Oversee 7 – 10 athletes completely from the Canadian roster.

Scout new potential athletes and new sporting playgrounds.

Negotiate and manage new and existing agreements based on budgets and sports marketing strategy.

Maintain schedules for competitions, Red Bull Events, and 3rd party sponsor obligations.

Manage travel and high-performance requirements based on budgets and priorities.

 

ATHLETE MARKETING

Assist the sports marketing team in the development of business plans.

Develop and execute athlete projects.

Develop stories and content pieces for Red Bull TV, Red Bull Media House, Digital Marketing, and Communications.

Develop and manage marketing plans for each athlete for the entirety of their sponsorship term in cooperation with the athlete-marketing manager.

Ensure each athlete has branding tools and Red Bull product at all times.

Work alongside digital and communications teams to ensure they are briefed on all athlete schedules for upcoming competitions, athlete projects, and initiatives.

 

SPORTS COMMUNICATIONS

Support the field in developing and executing specific regional Red Bull owned athlete projects.

Develop and foster relationships with key opinion leaders within athlete and sport.

Support the Field Marketing Team  where applicable in building of communications plans for local event athlete activations.

In key times of year, work closely with the National Event Manager on various national projects that pay back into both the athlete and sports program.

OTHER

Manage respective athlete and project budgets.

Provide the Athlete Marketing Manager and Country Sport Manager with monthly reports.

Support the National Event Manager and Field Marketing Managers with other relevant projects.

Qualifications

2 years marketing experience or experience in a marketing related field.

Knowledge within a broad range of sports relevant to targeted audiences.

Requires excellent social & presentation skills with the ability to seamlessly blend in with an extremely diverse audience. 

Excellent written, presentation and verbal skills, with a strong attention to detail.

Digital marketing experience is an asset – across all major social platforms and content creation tools.

Strong leadership, initiative, and communications skills.

Ability to manage a budget and meet strict and demanding deadlines.

Strong analytical skills, including proficiency in MS excel, MS Word, PowerPoint.

Creative, innovative, and open-minded.

An understanding of sports-performance, specialist knowledge and experience.

Bilingual in English and French an asset.

Self-aware, curious, motivated, team-oriented, friendly, loyal, communicative, stress-resistant, calm.

University Degree.

Additional Information

The expected annual base salary range for this position is $73,150 to $80, 850. The actual base salary for this position will depend on various factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s qualifications, skills, experience and work location. This position is also eligible for an annual bonus in accordance with the terms of Red Bull’s bonus plan.
