What you'll do
The AVP, Strategic Activation is responsible for leading the activation and execution of transformation workstreams across Canadian Tire Corporation (CTC), ensuring alignment with enterprise strategic objectives and the timely delivery of milestones. The AVP acts as the primary liaison between the Transformation Management Office (TMO) and business units, enabling successful outcomes for enterprise-wide initiatives through decisive leadership and cross-functional collaboration.
Strategic Oversight & Prioritization: Act as the key liaison between the TMO and business units, including commercial leaders (COO, Supply Chain), and senior stakeholders. Ensure alignment of the strategic direction with CTC’s enterprise objectives. Oversee the development and sign-off of initiative charters, business cases, and roadmaps, ensuring all initiatives contribute to value creation and organizational goals.
Enterprise Accountability & Decision-Making: Hold initiative owners and teams accountable for delivery of milestones and outcomes. Track status of all initiatives, manage timelines, milestones, and risks, and ensure all workstreams deliver against commitments. Act as the escalation authority, intervening directly on off-track workstreams, identifying roadblocks, and manage trade-offs and resource allocation decisions to maintain progress.
Financial Ownership & Value Realization: Drivee on-time, on-forecast planning to enable value creation. Monitor and report on financial adherence, variances, and value realization, driving financial discipline across all transformation initiatives.
Operating Cadence Enforcement: Maintain the weekly TMO operating cadence, facilitating meetings, capturing actions, and ensuring timely follow-through on decisions and commitments. Drive discipline and accountability in all transformation forums.
Cross-Functional Alignment & Resource Management: Identify interdependencies across teams, manage trade-offs, and reallocate resources to support cross-functional alignment and maintain momentum. Influence escalation and reprioritization decisions to ensure strategic objectives are met.
What you bring
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or related field (MBA preferred).
Minimum 8+ years of experience in transformation management, program management, or strategic initiatives, with a proven track record of leading large-scale, cross-functional transformation programs. Strong financial acumen, expertise in risk management and value realization tracking, and experience influencing senior stakeholders in complex environments.
Proficiency in program management tools and methodologies, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to interpret financial data and link investment to value creation.
