The Origination professional will support and drive the sourcing of investment opportunities aligned with Fengate’s private equity strategy. The role combines relationship development, market intelligence, and disciplined pipeline management to generate high-quality deal flow. Title and scope will be aligned with the successful candidate’s experience. Depending on level, the individual may support origination initiatives, independently lead sector coverage, or operate as a senior originator accountable for delivering qualified opportunities through an established network and market expertise.

We are seeking a motivated and adaptable investment professional who combines intellectual curiosity with commercial insight. The ideal candidate is relationship-oriented, analytically rigorous, and energized by developing new opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify, source, and qualify investment opportunities across priority sectors.
  • Build and maintain relationships with intermediaries, investment bankers, entrepreneurs, advisors, and other sector stakeholders.
  • Assess prospective investments, providing insights on strategic fit, competitive positioning, market dynamics, and key risk considerations.
  • Partner with the investment team to evaluate opportunities and refine pursuit strategies.
  • Maintain a disciplined and organized pipeline using CRM tools, reporting, and analytics.
  • Conduct in-depth market, company, and sector research to generate actionable insights.
  • Represent Fengate in industry conferences, networking events, and key relationship meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements
  • 2+ years (Associate), 4+ years (Associate Vice President), or 7+ years (Vice President) of experience in private equity, investment banking, corporate development, or related fields.
  • Experience in deal sourcing, business development, or transaction execution, with responsibility aligned to level.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and manage professional relationships (established network expected at senior levels).
  • Strong analytical and research capabilities, including financial analysis and market assessment.
  • Experience managing pipelines and CRM systems (DealCloud experience an asset).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • MBA, CPA, CFA, or undergraduate degree in finance, business, economics, or related fields would be an asset.
  • Highly motivated, organized, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
