Position Overview

The Associate, Capital Markets Regulatory Portfolio Management (RPM) is an integral part of the Regulatory Engagement and Portfolio Management (REPM) team within Capital Markets Supervision & Governance (CMSG). This role is responsible for proactive engagement through enhanced reporting and analytics, including the development of interactive dashboards for key supervisory metrics, key risk indicators (KRIs), and regulatory compliance reporting. The Associate will also improve existing reporting by enhancing underlying logic and leveraging data sources and reporting tools.

About Capital Markets Supervision & Governance (CMSG)

CMSG directs, leads, and operates the First Line of Defense’s Operating Group Compliance Program (OGCP). The OGCP establishes the system of policies, processes, and controls required for risk-based compliance with applicable laws and regulatory requirements. It ensures that First Line of Defense responsibilities are fulfilled as outlined in the Legal Regulatory Compliance Risk Management (LRCRM) Policy, the Enterprise Compliance Program, the Global Compliance Manual (GCM), and supporting operating guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the REPM mandate by delivering enhanced reporting and analytics.
  • Develop and maintain interactive dashboards to support supervisory oversight, key risk indicators (KRIs), and regulatory compliance reporting.
  • Produce clear, actionable insights through proactive analysis of supervisory and regulatory data.
  • Enhance existing reporting by improving underlying data logic, controls, and methodologies.
  • Leverage multiple data sources and reporting tools to strengthen accuracy, consistency, and transparency of regulatory metrics.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems efficiently within tight timeframes.
  • Collaborate closely with teams across Capital Markets and the enterprise, including Global Markets, Investment & Corporate Banking, Technology & Operations, and Market Risk.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in finance, physics, mathematics, statistics.
  • Familiarity with database design and queries (Oracle/SQL); willingness to learn is essential.
  • Programming skills in Python, JavaScript, or VBA are preferred but not mandatory. Candidates without these skills will still be considered if they demonstrate strong analytical abilities.
  • Technical knowledge of financial products, including securities, derivatives, and structured products.
  • Solid knowledge of financial theory and risk management concepts.
  • Ability to review, assess, and provide detailed information on multiple projects in an organized manner.
  • Independent thinker with strong judgment; adaptable to new tasks with little notice.
  • Exceptional research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to independently resolve complex business problems.
  • Excellent communication skills; able to build strong relationships at all levels to support business initiatives.

The salary range for this role is $80,000 up to $100,000 CAD (subject to the candidate meeting the specific skills, experience, education, and qualification requirements)

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
