Job Summary

Working collaboratively with a diverse team of individuals to develop innovative and sustainable energy systems, and high-performance buildings. Within a dynamic design team, the Senior Mechanical Designer plays a fundamental role in leading the team to design, engineer, and produce heating, cooling and
plumbing systems for different building types and applications: District Energy, Educational Facilities, Airports, Community Centres, Art Galleries & Museums, Childcares, Firehalls, Aquatics Facilities. The Senior Designer performs tasks and delivers projects under the guidance of, and per the instructions provided
by, the Associate and/or Principal-in-Charge, including but not limited to performing engineering calculations, drafting, coordinating with the design team, equipment suppliers, constructors, and clients, and delegating design work to Junior Design Staff to put together design packages to submit to the client.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and lead district energy system design from concept to implementation

  • Develop conceptual mechanical system designs and schematics for district energy systems (e.g., ambient loops, heat pump plants, thermal energy storage)

  • Perform hourly energy modelling and demand analysis for buildings and district-scale systems

  • Analyze energy, carbon, and cost performance of different system options for comparison

  • Prepare clear, well-structured technical reports and presentations

  • Communicate complex energy and mechanical concepts to clients, municipalities, and stakeholders

  • Lead and participate in client meetings, workshops, and presentations

  • Document discussions and decisions through meeting minutes and follow-ups

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across planning, sustainability, and engineering groups

  • Support development of decarbonization strategies and energy master plans

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with district energy systems or energy master planning

  • Knowledge of local energy policies and decarbonization frameworks (e.g., BC Energy Step Code, municipal climate plans)

  • Experience with financial modelling or lifecycle cost analysis

  • Experience with hourly energy modelling an asset

  • Professional registration or eligibility (EGBC)

 


 

Additional Information

Introba is committed to pay equity. As part of that commitment, we have provided the base compensation range of $86,400 - $108,000 annually for this position and local market.
