Assist in the design, development, testing, and support of electrical automation systems, collaborating with senior engineers and interacting with customers.
As an Associate Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for assisting with the design, development, and testing of electrical automation equipment, components, or systems. You should be familiar with mathematical and engineering principles and methods used to design electrical systems. You be guided and provide support to more experienced engineers. You will collaborate in the integration, testing, commissioning and maintenance of electrical equipment, components, or systems. You will work directly with a team of engineers to deliver electrical automation solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of automation technologies and utilize this knowledge to specify and develop innovative solutions.
- Interpret customer specifications, make product recommendations, and assist in the selection of automation products.
- Provide daily technical application and product support for the internal sales force and end users.
- Develop, deploy, and debug VFDs, PLC, and HMI programs for automated equipment.
- Design, modify, and review customer‑supplied drawings in AutoCAD Electrical.
- Develop and deliver technical training courses related to automation and control.
- Research, create, and test configurations to assist customers in the application of automation and control products.
- Prepare customer bills of materials for quotation purposes.
- Deliver solutions with first‑time quality while maintaining high levels of internal and external customer satisfaction.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Participate in ongoing training on processes, procedures, and competencies.
- Participates in on-going training on processes, procedures, and competencies. Works with internal teams and customers.
- Participates in continuous improvement projects such as redesign of customer product and internal process improvement to increase efficiency and quality.
- Performs technical duties on assigned projects
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, a Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology, or a similar discipline is required.
- One to two years of experience in electrical engineering and industrial automation applications is required.
- A strong technical background with working knowledge of industrial automation components and equipment is required.
- Experience with AutoCAD Electrical and the ability to interpret electrical drawings and associated components is required.
- Working knowledge and understanding of PLCs, HMIs, motors, VFDs, and fieldbus systems is required.
- Demonstrated skill in programming and commissioning automation equipment.
- Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts and write technical documentation.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work effectively in team environments.
- Knowledge of Linux operating systems, HTML, Java, C/C++/C#, OPC‑UA, and Python is considered an asset.
- Ability to travel up to 25 percent.
