Establish the Sun Day Red (“SDR”) brand in the Canadian market through heightened understanding of the consumer via the DTC & Wholesale channels.  Responsible for product line merchandising/forecasting, sales management and marketing strategies.  Develop and steer the Go-to Market (“GTM”) plan for Canada in accordance with global guidelines for the Sun Day Red brand.  Ensure delivery of all sales and margin objectives while collaborating closely with senior management and supporting departments.

Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead representative for Canadian commercial & product needs to the Sun Day Red headquarters in San Clemente.
  • Lead and steer the range selection process from the global range to the Canadian range and actively contribute to higher range efficiency but embracing and championing the global footprint in Canada.
  • Develop the Sun Day Red strategic business plan for Canada to align financial targets with GTM strategies and market needs.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy for Canada that includes market analysis, target customer segments, pricing strategies, and sales forecasting.
  • Responsible for the achievement of sales and margin for the region.
  • Recruit, train, and manage a skilled sales team, providing guidance, coaching, and support to ensure their success. Foster a positive and collaborative team culture.
  • Monitor and analyze sales performance against targets and key performance indicators, providing regular reports and recommendations to senior management.
  • Responsible for the development and management of all SDR sales programs, including terms and conditions, sell in programs, rebates, etc.
  • Manage all sales related overhead budgets including travel/entertainment, sales meetings, promo, key account co-op, seeding, etc.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, understanding their needs and ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction.
  • Plan all sales meetings, sales training, and trade show activities.
  • Implement and enhance the sales process for selling, forecasting, and customer-facing documents.
  • Lead and steer the alignment of global/local concept priorities, the identification of key business drivers for Canada and the adaptation of global concepts to local trends.
  • Drive the Sun Day Red Brand strategic business plan for Canada to ensure alignment between financial targets and GTM strategies.
  • Drive constant interaction/insight of the consumer to build a fluid channel matrix for capitalizing on consumer buying patterns.
  • Cultivate cross-departmental interactions to ensure accurate and timely sharing of information related to brand marketing, forecasting and channel planning within the region.
  • Own internal procedures for the Sun Day Red brand to ensure full compliance with internal audit and published guidelines/procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills Requirements:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with team members, clients, and senior management.
  • Extremely strong in merchandising and marketing with proven cross functional experience, across finance and operations.
  • Strong industry knowledge, across footwear, apparel, and accessories.
  • Strong sales management and negotiating skills.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team of experienced industry sales representatives.
  • The ability to analyze sales data and performance metrics for making informed decisions and adjustments to sales strategies.
  • Ability to develop and implement marketing strategies to promote a company's products or services.
  • Excellent presentation and training skills.
  • Strong communication skills with direct/indirect reports, but more importantly, with all the counterparts in other areas of the company’s operations (Sales, Finance, HR, Product Creation, Operations, etc.).
  • Expert understanding of Canadian market, consumers, accounts, economic environment, and commercial needs.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Education, Work Experience, and Professional Certifications:

  • University graduate with education in a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 10 years of cross functional experience in merchandising/product, marketing, sales required.
  • Experience with CRM systems and sales automation software.
  • Experience in the apparel industry strongly preferred

Work Environment / Physical Requirements:

  • Normal office conditions with extensive computer and phone usage.
  • Ability to work extended hours as necessary.  May need to work evenings or weekends to meet sales goals or accommodate clients in different time zones.
  • Typically works normal workweek but as workload increases due to product launches, campaigns, or other marketing initiatives, which could lead to longer hours during those periods.
  • Able to work efficiently and accurately in an atmosphere of frequent interruption.
  • Light physical effort: equal to frequent lifting or moving of lightweight materials.
  • Frequent travel may be required to visit clients, attend trade shows, conferences, or meet with sales teams in various locations.
