Associate Director, Oncology Marketing – Solid Tumors

Responsibilities

Eli Lilly Canada is searching for a seasoned Associate Director, Oncology Marketing to drive innovation at speed, help people living with cancer benefit from our medicines, and deliver sustainable growth for the organization. The Oncology Business Unit is at an exciting inflection point, with multiple concurrent launches across solid tumor types — including breast, ovarian, lung, and gastrointestinal (GI) cancers — and a rich pipeline for the future.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of successfully launching multiple oncology brands across different tumor sites, with the strategic range to manage several launch priorities in parallel. This person will champion cross-functional integration and a culture of accountability, bringing an innovative approach to the team and seizing opportunities to take the OBU to the next level.

The role leads the marketing team and commercial activities across the solid tumor portfolio, delivering integrated customer plans, operational plans, and launch planning for new assets. Leveraging technology and innovative thinking, you and your team will generate new ways of expanding reach and creating exceptional customer experiences that drive brand uptake for appropriate patients and commercial success.

You will lead, work with, and communicate cross-functionally across the organization, and with key external healthcare providers and stakeholders, to align the strategic and tactical direction of each brand with overall corporate and oncology portfolio strategy. You will be accountable for the tactical execution of customer plans and for establishing a strong cross-functional collaboration model within the business unit, consistent with our organization's principles and values. You bring a passion for the discipline of marketing, its consistent pull-through in the field organization, and an active role in shaping the capability changes underway across the team.

This is a hybrid role — onsite presence at our Toronto office will be 10 or more days per month (at least 50% of the time), determined in collaboration with your manager based on business needs.

This role is eligible for additional forms of compensation, such as participation in the Lilly Bonus Program and a car allowance.

This posting is for an existing vacancy.

Specifically, this Associate Director, Oncology Marketing is responsible for:

  • Gaining deep customer insights across patients and HCPs involved in the management of cancer care across tumor types.

  • Providing strategic direction for the solid tumor oncology portfolio, developing integrated brand plans grounded in deep knowledge of the Canadian oncology landscape, competitive dynamics, and patient pathways in each tumor site.

  • Leading the customer planning and operational planning process for pre-NOC and post-NOC activities, across multiple concurrent brand launches.

  • Engaging and collaborating with Market Access and Pricing & Reimbursement teams to align commercial strategy with Health Technology Assessment (HTA) submissions, accelerating access for cancer patients.

  • Partnering with Global and appropriate Affiliate teams to ensure alignment on strategy, maximize learnings, and drive efficient use of common resources.

  • Developing novel and innovative tactics that allow Lilly to partner with HCPs.

  • Managing the overall commercial brand budget and P&L for the assets you lead, and leading commercial thought leader engagement strategy to build trusting partnerships with top thought leaders in Canada across relevant tumor types.

  • Providing insights and clear brand assumptions into the sales forecast process.

  • Building relationships and partnerships with key patient advocacy groups, in partnership with Medical Affairs and Government Affairs, to shape the external environment in support of the solid tumor portfolio.

  • Driving innovative thinking across the cross-functional team.

  • Ensuring commercial activities are planned and implemented in accordance with the current compliance environment.

  • Building the long-term plan for the assets you manage within the solid tumor oncology portfolio.

  • Coaching and mentoring the marketing team, including brand managers and marketing interns.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully launching two or more oncology brands, ideally across different tumor sites.

  • University degree required; advanced degree strongly preferred (MBA, MSc, PhD).

  • Bilingual (English/French) strongly preferred.

  • 10+ years of pharmaceutical/healthcare experience, including 5+ years of marketing experience, preferably in oncology.

  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple concurrent brand launches across different tumor types or therapeutic areas.

  • Demonstrated experience in pre-commercialization preparation and launch implementation.

  • People management experience.

  • Demonstrated leadership of cross-functional teams — sales, medical, market access/reimbursement, and other departments.

  • Demonstrated thought leader engagement over time.

  • Demonstrated creativity in problem solving and customer solutions.

  • Skill and knowledge of digital communications and channels preferred.

  • Experience commercializing products in highly competitive therapeutic areas preferred.

  • Experience commercializing hospital-based specialty products and knowledge of the oncology landscape preferred.

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
