OMERS Infrastructure is currently seeking a high-performing Associate Director to join its investment team in Toronto. This is an opportunity to join a collaborative team and support all aspects of the investment process, including origination, execution and value creation / asset management.
As an Associate Director on our team, you will provide support in building and executing the OMERS Infrastructure strategy by:
- Driving and/or supporting research into prospective industries to develop industry theses and assisting in generating investment ideas for OMERS Infrastructure across our focus sectors
- Independently leading commercial, technical, regulatory and other critical due diligence workstreams, driving towards clear outcomes – including assessment of the investment thesis and key risks – in partnership with external experts and advisers
- Synthesizing key findings from research, financial analysis and meetings with management teams and diligence advisors into investment presentations and presenting these findings to investment committees
- Oversight of all financial analysis, including responsibility for financial model integrity and model outputs / analyses
- Preparing offer letters, term sheets and any other external written correspondence
- Reviewing contracts including confidentiality agreements, purchase and sale agreements, shareholder agreements, tax agreements, financing agreements and engagement agreements with external advisors, in partnership with Managing
- Directors and Directors, plus internal and external legal and tax experts
- Contributing to the strategic, financial and operational success of portfolio companies, including leading and supporting strategy development, debt financings, follow-on acquisitions, and divestiture analysis, among other value creation activities
- Developing an ability to think strategically and holistically in order to understand complex situations and develop strategies to achieve the desired outcomes
- Being a team player and strong relationship builder, both internally and externally with our partners, advisers, peers and other stakeholders
- Acting as a mentor to junior team members, promoting the success and development of Associates
- Bringing a high level of engagement to internal activities and events
Qualifications:
- 6-8 years of experience in investment banking or direct investing in the infrastructure sector, including Energy, Transportation and/or Digital
- Demonstrated understanding of infrastructure as an asset class and of the North American infrastructure market and its key players
- Strong research, financial modelling, analytical and valuation skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a strong commitment to being a team player
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; high focus on quality of work product
- Strong commercial, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic; able to multitask effectively and work independently
- Leadership capability to mentor, coach and develop junior team members
- Intellectual curiosity, an eagerness to learn, and a thoughtful, diligent and proactive approach to gathering, synthesizing, and drawing useful insights from information
- An appreciation for sustainability in our portfolio companies and in the investment decision making process
