Our Data Governance services support key stakeholders across all aspects of data management to ensure effective and efficient handling of data throughout its lifecycle. We provide comprehensive guidance and support to enhance data integrity, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and foster a culture of continuous improvement, ultimately enabling stakeholders to manage data as a strategic asset and drive organizational success

Reporting to the AVP, Data Governance, the Assoc Specialist will take part on various engagements such as policies, data security and data management. The Assoc Data Governance Specialist will provide support for maintaining and contributing to Data Governance Policies, process, and guidelines. The role will also assist in maintaining and contributing to data classification and security across our analytics environment.  


How you will create impact:
  • Contribute to the data management components related to data assets, data quality, business glossaries, data lineage, metadata, and data catalogs.
  • Acquire the skills and knowledge of data classification according to company’s recommendations.
  • Support data sharing request analysis and contribute to the recommendations in order to reduce risk when sharing data outside the organization.
  • Support the team with creation of data management tools and platforms to ensure they adhere to the organization’s data governance expectations and meet data user needs.
  • Maintain processes and controls to minimize the risk of data leakage.
  • Understand the security model in the data & analytics environment to support its maintenance.
  • Understand Data Policies, Standards, Guidelines and Procedures to best suit the company’s needs and monitor their adherence across the organization to ensure adequate use of data.

To join our team:
  • University degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Business Intelligence, Information Architecture, or another related field.
  • 0-2 years of experience in Data Governance, Business intelligence or related skills.
  • Experience in classifying, defining, or profiling data.
  • Knowledge and experience in job-related applications and programming languages (SQL, Python, Microsoft Entra ID, Power BI).
  • Knowledge and experience with various governance or data management tools is an asset (e.g.: Alation, Colibra, Purview).
  • Experience in the insurance or IT industry is an asset.
  • This position primarily works with majority non-francophone groups, and teams located outside of Québec, and requires proficiency in English. The essential non-French duties are not assignable to adjacent or other team members.

Salary information

Expected salary range $50,280 to $83,800

Salary placement

The salary amount for the successful candidate is determined by Co-operators in its discretion and will vary depending on several criteria including but not limited to: local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualification, experience and education.

Incentive/Variable pay

Employees may also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn additional compensation tied to individual and/or business performance, or other business metrics.
