Summary

We are seeking a talented and passionate Core Java Developer to join our Rates eTrading team, which is responsible for Citi’s market-leading electronic connectivity and distribution platform. In this role, you will design and develop our next-generation, high-profile trading applications, working closely with traders, sales, and quants. This is a challenging and exciting opportunity to enhance a critical front-office platform, gain direct exposure to the fast-paced world of finance, and contribute to the technology that solidifies our competitive advantage in the market.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop front-office eTrading applications for the trading business.
  • Collaborate directly with Traders, Sales, and Quants to shape the future direction of the trading platform.
  • Utilize creativity and innovation to improve the technical capabilities of the platform.
  • Ensure the platform remains stable, flexible, and maintainable.
  • Drive engineering standards and strive for best practices.
  • Enhance automated testing efforts and optimize the UAT process.
  • Troubleshoot complex performance and scalability issues.
  • Provide onsite support to Rates traders in the Paris location.
  • Assist in third-line support during core trading hours.
  • Liaise with global business, support, and development teams on various projects.
     

Qualifications

  • Possess 3-7 years of experience in server-side Core Java and multi-threading.
  • Demonstrate experience with the Spring framework, Linux, and relational databases.
  • Have a solid architectural understanding of enterprise applications.
  • Show experience with modern software development practices such as Agile, test-driven development, continuous integration, and continuous delivery.
  • Understand computer science fundamentals, including concurrency, algorithms, data structures, and design patterns.
  • Experience developing large-scale financial trading systems with a focus on performance optimization and tuning.
  • Experience working in an Agile, globally distributed team using tools such as Jira, GitHub, Sonar, and TeamCity.
  • Proficiency with development tools such as IntelliJ and Gradle.
  • Experience with ION, KDB, JSON/XML, and REST services is preferred.
  • Experience with AI tools such as Copilot, Claude, or Devin is preferred.
     

Preferred

  • Knowledge of major Fixed Income Products (Repos, US Treasuries, Interest Rate Swaps) and Broker/Customer Markets electronic trading flows.
     

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
  • Master’s degree preferred
