About The Role
The Assistant Vice President (AVP), Technology and E&O, will support the placement and advisory services for technology companies and professional service firms with a focus on Technology and Errors & Omissions (Tech E&O), Media Liability, and related professional liability exposures, with cyber insurance as a complementary coverage.
This role is ideal for a technically strong broker with experience structuring Tech E&O programs for technology vendors, SaaS providers, IT consultants, and managed service providers (MSPs). The AVP will work closely with clients and insurers to design coverage solutions that address contractual liability, intellectual property exposure, service failure risk, and technology-related professional liability.
What You’ll Do
- Advise clients on Technology E&O exposures, including service failure, intellectual property liability, contractual indemnification obligations, and professional negligence.
- Structure and place Technology E&O programs for clients, including SaaS providers, software developers, IT consultants, MSPs, and technology vendors.
- Analyze client contracts and vendor agreements to identify insurance requirements and risk transfer obligations.
- Collaborate with insurers to negotiate policy wording, endorsements, and coverage enhancements related to technology liability risks.
- Develop placement strategies across domestic and international markets for technology professional liability risks.
- Maintain strong relationships with insurers specializing in technology, E&O and professional liability.
- Support cyber placements where relevant, ensuring coverage aligns with technology liability exposures.
- Participate in new business opportunities and contribute to client education around technology risk and professional liability trends.
What You’ll Need for Success
- Typically, 5–8 years of experience in tech and E&O broking, placement, or underwriting, ideally within a commercial or specialty brokerage environment.
- Strong knowledge of technology professional liability exposures, including Failure to perform, Service interruption, Intellectual property infringement, Contractual indemnity obligations, Vendor liability and other emerging risks.
- Demonstrated ability to engage credibly with senior client stakeholders and insurers in a consultative manner.
- Familiarity with the Canadian Technology E&O and professional liability landscape, including carrier appetites and risk trends affecting technology companies such as SaaS providers, IT consultants, and managed service providers.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities;
- Ability to analyze risk exposures, coverage options, and market dynamics to develop optimal client solutions.
- Works well in cross-functional teams and is comfortable engaging across internal departments such as legal, claims, and risk consulting.
- RIBO (Ontario) required or ability to obtain.

The expected salary range for this position is $135,000 to $165,000 and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope and level.
