About The Role

As the Assistant Vice President (AVP), Cyber & Technology, you will play a key role in supporting the growth and delivery of our cyber risk advisory and insurance placement services. You will work closely with clients, insurers, and internal stakeholders to design and execute effective cyber and technology E&O risk solutions.

This role is ideal for a technically strong broker or advisor with deep cyber insurance knowledge, strong market relationships, and a consultative, client-first approach. While not a leadership role per se, it offers an opportunity to drive business development, contribute to thought leadership, and work on high-profile and complex placements in an evolving risk landscape.

What You’ll Do

  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients on coverage structure, market trends, regulatory concerns, and emerging threat vectors.

  • Collaborate with senior brokers and account teams to develop and execute placement strategies that optimize pricing, coverage, and service outcomes.

  • Maintain strong relationships with key cyber and tech insurers and underwriters across the domestic and international markets.

  • Contribute to internal knowledge-sharing, market intelligence, and development of tools and templates for the cyber practice.

  • Participate in new business pursuits, including proposal development, pitch support, and presentations to prospective clients.

  • Help strengthen and expand existing client relationships by delivering high-quality service and proactive risk guidance.

  • Stay current with developments in the cyber threat landscape, data privacy legislation, and digital transformation trends impacting risk profiles.

  • Contribute to white papers, webinars, and client education sessions in collaboration with the practice lead and marketing team.

What You’ll Need for Success

  • Typically, 5–8 years of experience in cyber insurance broking, placement, or underwriting, ideally within a commercial or specialty brokerage environment.

  • Strong understanding of cyber insurance products, technology E&O, ransomware coverage, privacy breach liability, and related emerging risks.

  • Demonstrated ability to engage credibly with senior client stakeholders and insurers in a consultative manner.

  • Familiarity with the Canadian cyber insurance landscape, including carrier appetites, regulatory considerations (e.g., PIPEDA, Bill 25), and risk trends.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities;

  • Ability to analyze risk exposures, coverage options, and market dynamics to develop optimal client solutions.

  • Works well in cross-functional teams and comfortable engaging across internal departments such as legal, claims, and risk consulting.

  • Insurance or cyber certifications (CIP, RPLU, CPLP, etc.) are an asset.

  • RIBO (Ontario) required or ability to obtain.
