Who You Will Be Working With:
Reporting to the Leader, Debit, T&O, this vacant Database Administrator (DBA) role will design, implement, manage, and optimize database solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in database management systems (Oracle, RDS, DynamoDB, Redshift, etc.), a focus on performance, scalability, and security, and hands-on experience in supporting mission-critical applications.
What You Will Do:
Design, deploy, and maintain database solutions such as RDS (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server), DynamoDB, Aurora, and Redshift).
Optimize database performance through query tuning, indexing, and schema design for high-volume, high-transaction systems.
Implement and manage database Backup, Recovery, Archival, and Disaster Recovery solutions
Monitor and maintain database availability, health, and performance using tools such as OEM and other Monitoring applications.
Be able to design a Database that is scalable and maintainable while retaining consistency across different environments.
Develop reusable automation scripts and templates to standardize operational processes, reduce manual intervention, and accelerate delivery.
Be able to design, develop and implement Data Archival and Retention policies.
Ensure database security by implementing IAM policies, encryption (KMS), and auditing for compliance with industry standards.
Collaborate with development and DevOps teams to integrate database services into CI/CD pipelines and application architectures.
Contribute to inner-source practices by creating and maintaining a centralized repository of database management scripts, configurations, and automation frameworks accessible across teams.
Enable AppOps teams by building reusable database monitoring, alerting, and self-healing modules to ensure operational support scalability.
Troubleshoot database-related issues, including performance bottlenecks, connection pooling, and query optimizations.
Stay updated with Cloud based and OnPrem database offerings, emerging technologies, and best practices to continuously improve solutions.
Be available to provide on-call rotation to support the Database and DB infrastructure.
What You Bring:
5-8+ years of experience as a Database Administrator, with at least 3 years working with Cloud and onPrem database services.
Expertise in relational databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and SQL Server, and NoSQL databases.
Hands-on experience in database performance tuning, troubleshooting, and optimization across multiple environments.
Strong knowledge of Oracle and AWS services.
Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for database automation and maintenance.
Hands on experience with Oracle DB support, build , design and troubleshooting skills.
Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or AWS CDK.
Familiarity with database security, encryption, and auditing best practices in a cloud environment.
Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and integrating databases into automated workflows.
Experience with inner-source collaboration tools like GitHub or GitLab to contribute to shared repositories and enable cross-team usage of database automation scripts.
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills with a collaborative approach.
Eligibility to work for Interac Corp. in Canada in a full-time capacity.
Additional nice-to-haves: Oracle Certifications including Oracle Database Administration, AWS Certifications, experience with data warehousing and analytics platforms, knowledge of ETL processes and tools, familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools, ITIL or other relevant certifications in database management and operations.
What We’re Offering:
The hiring range for this position is $115,000 to $125,000, and you will also be eligible for our short-term incentive plan. The exact amount will depend on factors such as skills, experience, and job-related knowledge, but Interac’s commitment goes beyond compensation.
