About the Role

We’re looking for a solutions-focused SAP expert to join our team as Lead Applications, SAP Functional. In this role, you will be accountable for delivering reliable, compliant, and efficient SAP Finance solutions that support end-to-end accounting needs, including FI (General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable) and FICA (Contract Accounts Receivable and Payable). You will provide hands-on expertise in SAP S/4HANA Finance while collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive solution design, process improvements, and long-term transformation across our financial systems. This is a high-impact role for an experienced functional consultant eager to make meaningful contributions to Element’s digital transformation journey.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Provide functional leadership and configuration expertise across SAP Finance modules (FI-GL, FI-AP, FI-AR, FICA).
  • Execute hands-on system configuration, functional design, testing, and end-user support for SAP S/4HANA Finance.
  • Lead solution design and system integration across SAP modules and external applications, including third-party systems.
  • Collaborate with ABAP developers to implement customizations, interfaces, and reporting tools.
  • Develop, review, and manage project documentation including functional specifications, test scripts, and training materials.
  • Facilitate peer reviews and participate in solution design workshops with business stakeholders and technical teams.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for production support issues, upgrades, and system enhancements.
  • Evaluate SAP innovations and explore SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) capabilities for automation, workflow, and integration.
  • Research and recommend integration of third-party tools such as Blackline, Vertex, Ariba, Concur, Onestream, etc.
  • Mentor junior team members and provide functional leadership during major system upgrades and project implementations.

 

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or IT-related discipline.
  • 5–10 years of hands-on experience as an SAP Finance Functional Consultant.
  • Deep functional knowledge of FI-GL, FI-AP, FI-AR, and FICA modules.
  • Proven track record of supporting multiple full lifecycle SAP implementations.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.
  • Ability to design, configure, test, and support SAP Finance processes independently.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • ABAP debugging skills and experience working closely with development teams.
  • Experience with SAP BTP for custom extensions and integration.
  • Familiarity with Treasury, Banking, or other Finance-related SAP modules.
  • SAP S/4HANA Finance certification (FI/CO or FICA).

 

Current Location: Mississauga. Our Mississauga office will move to 1 Adelaide in Toronto in September 2026

 

The hiring base salary range for this position is $99,200 to $136,400 annually. Actual compensation within this range will be dependent upon the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, equity with other team members, and alignment with market data. Please note that the disclosed salary range is specific to candidates hired to perform work within this geographic location. Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location.
