The Applications Development Senior Lead oversees application systems development, team management, budget control, stakeholder engagement, and integration of advanced technologies while ensuring project delivery and operational alignment.
The Applications Development Senior Lead holds a critical position within the Issuer Services Technology senior management team. This strategic leadership role is instrumental in establishing and implementing new or enhanced application systems and programs, driving advanced applications systems analysis, and programming initiatives.Given Issuer Services' ambitious growth objectives over the next 3-5 years and substantial technology investments, including a significant expansion of the technology organization, this role is paramount. It ensures the delivery of best-in-class, scalable project oversight and solution development, supporting both Operations and Front Office business needs.Responsibilities:
- Strategic Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and manage a diverse team of internal staff and external contractors, encompassing comprehensive personnel duties including performance management, career development, recruitment, and disciplinary actions.
- Resource and Budget Stewardship: Provide strategic direction and maintain stringent control over resource allocation, budget management, planning, and the rigorous monitoring of delivery outcomes.
- Executive Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate and sustain transparent and impactful communication channels with senior business and operations stakeholders, ensuring alignment and expectation management.
- Advanced Technology Integration & Modernization: Drive the strategic consolidation and modernization of platforms and applications, ensuring alignment with 'Digital First' principles, future-state architectural goals, and the proactive integration of emerging technologies.
- End-to-End Delivery Excellence: Oversee all aspects of staff and delivery management across critical application platforms, with a particular focus on those supporting American Depository Receipts.
- Problem Resolution and Standards Evolution: Apply profound expertise within application development, coupled with a solid understanding of broader technological domains, to resolve complex issues and contribute to the definition and evolution of technical standards and best practices.
- Global Collaboration: Partner effectively with the Global Office to ensure accurate resource planning, hiring status, and transparent reporting to key stakeholders and senior management.
- Influence and Negotiation Expertise: Expertly influence and negotiate with senior leaders across various functions and effectively engage with external parties as necessary.
- Senior Leadership Experience: 5+ years of progressive senior development management experience, including leading teams of managers responsible for local and remote application development, project management, business analysis, and quality assurance.
- Deep Application Development Expertise: 10+ years of direct, hands-on experience across the entire application development lifecycle
- Agile Methodology Mastery: 3+ years of demonstrated success in delivering complex software solutions using Agile/iterative methodologies.
- Project Governance and Resource Optimization: Proven expertise in establishing and managing project governance, demand prioritization, and resource supply management, ensuring optimal capacity planning, resource allocation, and staff utilization across technical teams.
- Large-Scale Program Management: Extensive experience leading large technology programs and solution delivery teams, proficient in managing scope, scheduling, budgeting, and comprehensive project planning within complex, matrixed environments with aggressive delivery timelines.
- Exceptional Communication: Expert-level communication and negotiation skills, characterized by outstanding written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal abilities, capable of engaging audiences at all levels.
- AI/ML/GenAI Acumen and Proficiency:
- Demonstrated experience and proficiency in leveraging AI technologies within application development.
- Understanding of GenAI concepts and their practical application in software solutions.
- Experience guiding teams in the integration of AI/ML models, data pipelines, and AI-driven features into production systems.
- Proven experience with or leadership in the adoption and implementation of AI-based coding agents and developer tooling to enhance productivity and code quality.
- Agile Transformation Leadership: Significant experience in establishing standardized methodologies and leading departmental transitions to advanced Agile practices.
- Dynamic Workload Management: A highly skilled multi-tasker with the ability to strategically manage numerous complex projects and tasks concurrently.
- Cultivating High Performance: Documented success in elevating staff delivery performance and fostering high-performance, results-driven work environments.
- Core Development & Languages: Proficiency in enterprise-grade languages like Java, Python, JavaScript, with a focus on scalable and resilient software design.
- Cloud-Native & Microservices Architecture: Good understanding of hyperscale cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), Kubernetes, serverless computing, and designing/implementing robust microservices.
- Bachelor’s degree or University degree, preferably in Computer Science or a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Master’s degree preferred.
