Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic professional to support our tax footprint. This is an exciting opportunity for you to be part of the evolution of our tax function. The Analyst, Tax reporting to the Director, Tax, will work closely with the tax team and business partners to provide tax support and execution to ensure that enterprise tax risk and compliance obligations are managed appropriately. You will assist in the operation of CPP Investments’ tax function, including ensuring CPP Investments’ and its subsidiaries meet all tax compliance obligations for income tax, withholding tax, indirect taxes, and other tax matters. 

Accountabilities 

  • Support the outsourcing of income, indirect and withholding tax filing processes, collaborating with external advisors to ensure compliance with tax regulations 
  • Assist in the coordination of tax audits and tax notices to ensure timely resolution 
  • Proactively support the tax team by acting as a liaison with internal stakeholders to coordinate payments to tax authorities or vendors and manage tax refunds efficiently 
  • Prepare and manage various tax forms, slips and documentation, including Powers of Attorney, Delegation of Authority, FACTA forms and Certificates of Residency 
  • Collect and analyze data to assist with the preparation of quarterly metrics reports, reconciliation of cash break and expected restitution for public market, other quarterly tax sign offs, and support the management of the tax operating budget 
  • Oversee the distribution and management of tax-related mail 
  • Contribute to streamlining tax processes, controls, and documentation, including supporting the adoption of new technology and GenAI tools  
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support enterprise-wide initiatives and objectives 

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree or college diploma (i.e. Business Administration, Commerce, Accounting, Communications, Project Management, or a related field)  
  • Interest in tax operations is an asset, tax experience is not required  
  • Interest in or experience using GenAI tools to improve productivity and support continuous process improvement 
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) in English 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and an understanding of emerging workplace communication, collaboration tools and technology 
  • Strong project coordination and organizational skills  
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple deadlines  
  • Proven ability to learn quickly and work effectively in a team environment
