We are recruiting for an Analyst in the Investment Risk (Private) Group within the Risk Department It was developed for high potential individuals who recently graduated from undergraduate or graduate university programs and who are interested in developing risk management expertise. It is designed for those who are highly analytical, interested in business issues and curious about career opportunities in risk management within the finance industry. The program provides you access to a virtual classroom and on the job training where you will learn how to leverage your problem solving and technical skills to help make real business decisions. You will be assigned both a manager and a mentor to help support your learnings from the classroom to apply in the workplace setting.

You will join us with a 12-month contract as an Analyst in the Investment Risk (Private) Group within the Risk Department. The Risk Department provides independent risk oversight of investment activities across all public and private investment departments. It is a critical component of the overall governance framework, which includes the constructive challenge over risk levels, alignment with performance expectations, and key investment and operational processes. The Risk Department’s aim is to help ensure assets are being managed consistent with our mandate and strategic objectives, as well as enable delegation by CEO to investment departments to allow for risk-taking by IDs. In addition to its governance role, the Risk Department, it also empowered to advise on value-add risk analysis that enables better decision-making leading to improved investment outcomes.

The Investment Risk (Private) Group primarily focuses on risk oversight for the following three investment departments: Private Equity, Real Assets and Credit Investments. The majority of the assets within these departments are private investments. The Group develops its risk insights by participating in Investment committees and providing independent assessment on material transactions; analyzing risk and return characteristics of each departments’ portfolio, both on absolute and relative to selected benchmark basis; identifying risk drivers (financial and non-financial) across all portfolios and developing risk models, methodology and operations.

You will advance your knowledge and expertise through skills-based training and on-the-job assignments. You are encouraged to participate in additional programs such as our Speaker Series where each session focuses on a different aspect of our culture including employee resource groups, inclusion, and diversity and much more. Qualifications

Who We’re Looking For
We are recruiting for a 12-month contract role for students recently graduated or will be graduating from their post-secondary education program before the contract begins.

  • We are looking for candidates with a strong track record of academic success, while balancing extracurricular activities. You must have a strong intellectual curiosity in learning and be adaptive of changing/evolving roles and responsibilities.
  • Strong ownership mindset in developing your career, as well as possessing strong communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrate high competencies in both quantitative and qualitative analysis.
  • Expected to work with large data sets supported with proficient programing skills (e.g., VBA/Python).
  • Succinct writing and visualization are strongly preferred.
  • Combine energy, enthusiasm, and intellectual curiosity, with a demonstrated interest in investing.
