What You’ll Be Doing 

The Capital Markets arm of CIBC serves corporate, government and institutional clients with innovative solutions and value-added services. From actionable ideas to highly tailored financing solutions, M&A advice and a strong line-up of capital markets and treasury services, CIBC Capital Markets teams can provide the capabilities the clients need to help capitalize on opportunities and manage risk.

The Global Foreign Exchange Trading group offers Spot, Short Term Interest Rate, Non-Deliverable Forward and FX Option solutions to CIBC’s top-tier institutional clients in Canada and around the world.  As a member of the G10/EM FX Trading team you will focus on servicing clients in the North American session covering G10/EM Spot and LATAM Forward/NDF trading.

How You’ll Succeed

  • Execution - Provide market making, execution and orderbook management for the G10/EM spot and EMFX NDF voice business.

  • Schedule - Work within of a global team that manages the FX risks for the bank 24 hours a day, 5.5 days a week.  Ability to work outside of normal office hours including rotating occasional Sunday afternoon shifts.

  • Dedication - Ability to handle tight deadlines and heavy workload, the result of which is the requirement to work outside normal business hours.

  • Market view - Provide daily and on demand market color for internal and external stakeholders when requested regarding overall market sentiment, liquidity conditions and macroeconomic views.

  • Business growth - Work productively with the global sales team to help build the existing institutional franchise.

  • Risk - Manage the firm’s risk and exposure in the most efficient and optimal way including working with the eFX business and colleagues in other centers and job functions.

  • Reporting - Run, report and review daily P&L reports.

  • Compliance - Ensure adherence to the firm risk limits, compliance and regulatory requirements.

Who You Are 

  • You have an undergraduate/graduate degree in Mathematics, Finance, Technology, Engineering.

  • You can demonstrate previous experience in market making FX Spot/NDF or related experience preferable and a genuine interest in global financial markets

  • You can demonstrate ability to manage risk and monetize franchise value. Proven knowledge of the implications of global macroeconomics and geopolitics as it pertains to FX and financial markets.

  • You are technically savvy. Highly proficient in the use of advanced functions in Excel, VBA. Coding proficiency is a plus and working knowledge of Bloomberg is required

  • You’re motivated by collective success. Good interpersonal skills and a team player

  • You’re goal oriented. Entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to work under one’s own initiative
