The Analyst – CECL Program supports the Current Expected Credit Losses (“CECL”) Program for determining Allowance for Credit Losses (“ACL”). This analyst position provides exposure to Webster Bank’s Finance functions and executive Management Committees governing the ACL. The analyst will be expected to meaningfully contribute to projects and tasks while working closely with teams across the bank including Accounting, Treasury, Credit Risk, Enterprise Risk, Internal Audit, and SOX. Specific responsibilities include assisting in quarterly production planning, data collection, analyzing and challenging key inputs and quarterly results, preparing results for presentation to executive management and management committees, peer analysis, and documentation of internal controls.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in quarterly CECL ACL process including maintaining production schedule, data collection, analyzing macroeconomic forecasts, analyzing and challenging quarterly results, preparing results for presentation to executive management, and documentation of internal controls.

  • Assist with preparation of CECL Committee materials including documentation of meeting minutes.

  • Maintain CECL analysis & reporting spreadsheets and assist in enhancing reporting processes and automation.

  • Assist in creation and maintenance of ACL documentation and process procedures.

  • Perform peer analysis of ACL results, CECL assumptions and key credit quality metrics and summarize for presentation to Management.

  • Interface with SOX, internal and external auditors, and regulators performing reviews and control testing over the CECL Allowance process.

  • Prepare ad hoc financial analyses and reports as needed to support decision-making

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, and/or related field.

  • 3-5 years of financial services experience.

  • Overall understanding of finance and accounting principles.

  • Financial modeling, analytical, and organizational skills, with keen attention to detail.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; and presentation skills, desired.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office focus on Excel & PowerPoint.

  • Experience with S&P Global Capital IQ database preferred.

  • Familiarity with Federal Reserve and OCC regulatory reporting requirements.

This role has a hybrid work schedule and based in our Hartford, CT location.

The estimated base salary range for this position is $80,000 USD to $85,000 USD plus incentive plan.  Actual salary may vary up or down depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position is eligible for incentive compensation.
