Perplexity is seeking experienced AI Research Engineers and Scientists to own the AI at the core of our answer engine. Your job is to provide a seamless experience between default and Pro search, while continuing to add new advanced agentic capabilities. Applicants should be well versed in all aspects of LLMs from prompting to training to evaluating in order to keep redefining what is possible with search.
Responsibilities
- Continue to push the boundaries of how AI can power an answer engine by clever prompting and training of LLMs.
- Optimally balance speed, cost, and product experience while always providing the right answer.
- Invent new tools and capabilities to give a world class agent-like experience for queries.
- Work closing with AI product engineers to ensure we maximize the use of LLMs.
Qualifications
- Proven experience with large-scale LLMs and Deep Learning systems.
- Strong programming skills; versatility is a plus.
- Self-starter with a willingness to take ownership of tasks.
- Passion for tackling challenging problems.
- Minimum of 2 years of working on relevant projects.
Nice-to-have
- PhD in Machine Learning or related areas.
- Experience building distributed systems.
The cash compensation range for this role is $200,000 - $280,000.

Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including, experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above.
Equity: In addition to the base salary, equity is part of the total compensation package.
