About the Role
In this role, the Geometry AI/ML Co-op will support foundational research into applying AI, Machine Learning, and GenAI techniques to geometric data and CAD environments. The student will work closely with the AI & SW Technologies team to review state-of-the-art research publications, evaluate open-source code implementations, and prepare high-quality test datasets using both public and internal CAD sources. They will also explore data extraction workflows from CATIA to enable downstream ML experimentation. This co-op position offers hands-on experience at the intersection of engineering design, computational geometry, and applied AI within a fast-paced R&D environment.

Your Responsibilities
- Analyze relevant AI/ML research publications related to geometric processing and CAD.
- Evaluate open-source code repositories to identify approaches applicable to R&D needs.
- Prepare and structure test datasets using public and internal CAD models.
- Extract geometric data and metadata from CATIA to support AI/ML model development.
- Document findings through clear technical reports and summaries.
- Support team discussions by presenting insights from research and experiments.
Who we are looking for
- Foundational skills in Python and experience with AI/ML or GenAI tooling.
- Interest in or basic understanding of geometry processing, computational design, or related ML topics.
- Engineering background or ongoing studies in a related field.
- Familiarity with CAD tools (e.g., CATIA).
- Analytical and detail-oriented mindset, especially for research evaluation and dataset preparation.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an R&D environment.
Your preferred qualifications
- Experience with AI/ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow).
- Exposure to computational geometry, 3D data processing, or CAD-linked workflows.
- Familiarity with CATIA automation, APIs, or data extraction processes.
- Interest in research analysis, benchmarking, and experimental evaluation.
Work Environment
- Standard office environment and Robotics/Cobot Lab.
Compensation
- The hourly rate for this position ranges from $24.50 - $28.50.
